I am trying to make something that has a set AC, no Dexterity modifier. But I can’t. However, it has to be possible, since Tortles do it. I can’t see how they do it since I don’t have access, so how do I do it?
For example, i’m Trying to make something with a set 17 in AC, no benefit from Dexterity or Armor.
It doesn’t seem to work. If I give my character a +1 scale mail and Armored Fighting style, he gains a dexterity bonus, as well as making his AC 18 instead of my Natural Armkr, which is 17
I’m trying to live up to this sentence from the Tortle’s natural Armor.
it gives you a base AC of 17 (your Dexterity modifier doesn’t affect this number). You gain no benefit from wearing armor, but if you are using a shield, you can apply the shield’s bonus as normal.

It’s a race
Create a trait Called Natural Armor (or similar), and then under the Modifiers you want Set - Minimum Base Armor to be a fixed number.

How would I do that bolder part?
The modifier tortles use is set - minimum base armor. After testing it, it also gets overwritten if your character gains higher AC by another source.
"You gain no benefit from wearing armor" doesnt have a mechanical enforcement behind it, it just means "don't equip armor to this character."
Natural armor from monk, barbarian, or draconic bloodline (with 20 DEX) can still overwritten this score if they would grant higher AC.

Warforged use "set - unarmored armor class" and "set - AC max DEX modifier" to set its AC.
Kind of weird that there are 3 or more modifiers for changing AC in seemingly the same way.
