I am trying to create a subclass that has uses on an ability that functions similarly to Bardic Inspiration in the sense that you have check boxes that are equivalent to one's charisma modifier and you mark them off as you use them. Is there a way to implement something like that in D&D Beyond's customizer?
I don't know if there is a faster or easier way, but after experimenting around I managed to create something that do that, or at the very least, create boxes for you to check off. I was attempting to homebrew Matt Mercer's Runechild Sorcerous Origin for use in my campaign and that particular subclass has Essence Runes that you gain as you level up, 1 per level. And you can charge them either by spending Sorcery Points or with an action, then expend the Charged Runes to use certain subclass features or empower a spell. You lose all your Charged Runes after a long rest.
I was able to implement this by adding an Action to the Class Feature, put Reset Type to Long Rest, Activation Type to Action (I did this just so that when a player's in the Action tab of their character sheet, it appears with Font of Magic for ease of viewing), then add Limited Use to the Action, 20 of them, since the number of Essence Runes you get equals your class level. For what you want, I haven't tried it yet, but I imagine you can just use the Stat Modifier Bonus in the Limited Use section to add your Bardic Inspiration equivalent.
Hope this makes sense, and good luck with your subclass XD
