Hi! So currently i've been making homebrew classes for a Fire Emblem style dnd campaign. Some of the specific things that are homebrewed for this game is that characters don't get simple and/or martial proficiency with weapons, instead weapons are grouped between axes, swords, and lances anlances and classes only get access to certain weapon types. ( To mimic Fire Emblem style classes), and you get a bonus or a minus depending on what weapon you are using and your opponent is using ( if theytare using standard weapons) I am currently making a knight class. They are lance weilding, heavy armor fighters that use massive shields ( some might argue the shield part if they know fire emblem , but to that I say look at their sprite animations in most games.). I homebrewed greatshields proficiency for them, which is a +4 AC in comparison to normal shields, but count as heavy armor and reduce your movement speed by 5. Should i bump that down to a +3? The other thing i wanted advice on was I essentially gave them a sneak attack variant. In these games they are considered very slow most of the time, and they struggle to double attack, but they ussually have really high strength to compensate. In order to keep them competitive with other physical classes but to stay true to the class, i wanted this kind of a mechanic. The variant is basically the same on if they get advantage, but instead of having the effect where you you can get sneak attack if an enemy of your target is withen 5ft. Of them, I have it where you get your "frontline fighter" damage die if someone attacked the creature you are attacking the previous round. ( You can trigger this yourself notably if you attacked that target last turn). I need help on knowing how this compares to sneak attack etc. and if it's too good or bad, how to fix it. Thanks for your time!
Oh one more fun thing. I gave them " Heroic Actions" which lets them dash, help, and shove as a bonus action. ( They can't knock prone with the shove as a bonus action however. Maybe I will make that as an archetype feature at a higher level where you can now knock them prone with the bonus action shove. 20 points to whoever can guess which feature i was mimicking with this ability XD. Archetypes are based on promotions for the class in the fire emblem game, so knights can have either a Great Knight archetype, or a General archetype for example.
DnD is the base for the game. I'm homebrewing some DnD classes based off of the fire emblem games including a homebrew where swords get extra to hit against axes, and lose some hit against lances (I'm thinking + or - 2) Axes get extra damage against lances, and deal less against swords ( again, + or - 2) And lances... Don't know yet XD. The rest of the game is DnD in a fire emblem campaign setting.

Huge fire emblem fan here. Can't wait for three houses.
You may want to use d&d as a base and homebrew a new game.
