I am trying to re-create the Unearthed Arcana feat "Fell Handed" which gives you a +1 to attacks made with a handaxe, battleaxe, greataxe, warhammer, or maul. I can't find any way to give the bonus at all, let alone for these specific weapons. Also I can't create a feat that requires proficiency in these things? The only available selection for proficiencies are armor proficiencies.
I feel like every single time I try to make any homebrew I hit a wall. I always have to give up or compromise when making it, this is very frustrating.
There is no way to use a feat to add bonuses to a specific item. You can make the feat with a description only and when adding to your sheet you can manually customise the items to add the bonus. Since it's only you or your party members who will use this (since this is UA content and cannot be made public by you) it's not a big deal. Annoying, yes, but really a very minor inconvenience and still better than pen and paper.
A revamp of the homebrewing system is in the works.

I would much prefer it were simply available as an option from the list of feats.
Blame WotC for not making it official, or the playtesters for naysaying the feat hence it never becoming official.

Ditto to everything in the original post. I had the same problem, except I can add the +1 bonus to all melee weapon attack rolls or none. I cannot make the +1 to some weapon's attack rolls. Hope this is covered in the homebrew revamp (first I've heard of it).
Also ditto to it being better than pen and paper even with its flaws.

Well to be honest, I don't want to make it public by me, I would much prefer it were simply available as an option from the list of feats.
I would assume not, since that would be illegal.
