"Ranged Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, range 120 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (2d6 + 3) fire damage plus 3 (1d6) fire damage for every 2 points by which the attack roll exceeds the target's AC."
Emphasis added. I'm a bit of a stickler for precision, and nowhere in the official rules are quanta of success on an attack roll referred to as "points", so I'm wondering if you've seen an official rule or monster attack that looks similar to the above, and what language you'd use to describe what I intend.
Hi all,
I'm brewing a monster with the following attack:
"Ranged Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, range 120 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (2d6 + 3) fire damage plus 3 (1d6) fire damage for every 2 points by which the attack roll exceeds the target's AC."
Emphasis added. I'm a bit of a stickler for precision, and nowhere in the official rules are quanta of success on an attack roll referred to as "points", so I'm wondering if you've seen an official rule or monster attack that looks similar to the above, and what language you'd use to describe what I intend.
Thanks!
I’ve only seen it for checks and saves, but you could probably steel the language from those instances.
