Hello! Sending this here to ask for some feedback for a monk subclass: The Way of Projection. This high-speed subclass uses pre-planned movements to zip around and suffocate enemies with endless movement. Based primarily on the Projection Sorcery technique from Jujutsu Kaisen. I only have features from 3rd to 6th finished, and plan for two more for the higher levels. Enjoy!
The Way of Projection is a monastic tradition that views reality as a sequence of discrete moments rather than a continuous flow, training its disciples to perceive, predict, and exploit the spaces between instants. Practitioners move with an uncanny, almost unnatural precision, committing their motion to an internalized sequence of frames before their bodies ever act, and executing those decisions with merciless efficiency.
Projection Technique At 3rd level, you’ve unlocked the secret laws of motion. Your Unarmored Movement feature increases by an additional 10 feet. Additionally, once during your turn, when you make an attack with a monk weapon or an unarmed strike, you move up to 10 feet in a straight line before or after making the attack. During this movement, opportunity attacks directed at you are made at disadvantage. You can use this feature again before the end of your turn by spending 1 ki point for each additional use of Projection Technique.
Frame Planning Additionally at 3rd level, you’ve gained the strategic prowess to maximize your abilities. At the start of your turn, you may grant yourself the following benefits until the end of your turn:
You do not have to expend Ki points to use Projection Technique.
You must choose to use Projection Techniquebeforeorafter each attack you make this turn, not both.
When you are given a forced movement (pushed or pulled), knocked prone, or are hit by an opportunity attack, these benefits end and you are immediately restrained until the start of your next turn.
Framebound At 6th level, you’ve learned to grant foes the same restrictions you were trained to embrace. When you hit a creature with an unarmed strike, you can spend 1 ki point to imbue them with your technique. It must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or become Framebound until the end of its next turn. Framebound creatures have their movement speed halved and have disadvantage on attacks against you. When a Framebound creature moves for the first time on its turn, it must choose one of the options below:
Follow the Frame. The creature moves up to half its speed in a straight line. This movement does not provoke opportunity attacks from you. The creature remains Framebound until the end of its turn.
Break the Frame. The creature attempts to move freely. That creature must immediately make a Dexterity saving throw. If it fails, the creature is restrained until the end of its turn, and the Framebound condition ends. On a success, the Framebound condition ends with no additional penalty.
