My daughter and I are crafting a homebrew setting for fun and to oneday possibly use. One thing we are looking at and I was hoping for some feedback is that in this world, the vast majority of people have some innate magic. There is a 5% chance you have no magic and actually have the opposite which is you can advantage against spells. Everyone else has a chance on a d100 chance of gaining either a cantrip or a 1st level spell from a class (Bard/Druid/Cleric/wizard/sorceror or warlock). The chart is weighted towards cantrips over 1st level spells. In addition, you are more likely to gain cleric or wizard spells. Cantrip would operate as normal cantrips and the 1 st level spells would be a use per day based on spell ability for the class the spell comes from.
Example: You roll a 48. You would choose any 1st level cleric spell. You can cast it based on your wisdom modifier times a day as a first level spell.
You roll a 17 you would get to choose a cantrip from from the druid list of cantrips. Attack/DC is based on the class that the cantrip comes from (Wisdom modifiers).
So what are the possible huge issues with this if any? Should certain spells be locked out? Note: this is the first role a character would make followed by ability score rolls. They could then choose their class etc to move forward.
