Help with doubling weapon damage

I am making some weapon that can be upgraded, on of the upgrades is that the weapon dose double damage. The Weapon is a Laser Pistol it dose 3d6 Radiant Damage. I want the weapon to do 6d8 Radiant Damage. Please help if you know

You can add additional damage, but can't change base.

Damage - radiant, die count: 2, die type: d6.
