I want to provide a feature that could be used in many different ways and that helps you define your character as someone who :
- spend some times in the Feywild
- got some contacts with the Seelie or the Unseelie
- got some marks from its past
- want to be attractive and who like relations and long talking.
- could be a "fool" or a "joker" kind of
- could also provide the DM and the player many opportunities to roleplay and interact with NPC.
- help the DM to plug a story or a next goal to players.
I based it on the Feylost and Far traveler backgrounds (I try to mix both) and add some content, mainly in all sentences relative to roleplay and description of how your past Feywild "visit" changed you.
I will be very happy to read some feedback about it !
My understanding of the "Feywild" is different, considering that I had already created my own canon for the fey world long before the Feywild was a thing. Nevertheless, this could easily fit into my own world. For instance, I have an elf druid in my party that is kind of "touched" like that, and she tends to annoy some of the more play-by-the-book players. Stopping in the middle of a boss battle to purify a defiled pond, feeding the kobold prisoner some food while the other players are trying to intimidate it. She also insists that her antlers are real (and maybe they are). Good times.
I did wonder about the relevance of Arcana as a skill option. I assume fey magic is more primal than arcane, so I wonder if Arcana would be a realistic proficiency.
Beyond that, it looks like it would be a lot of fun as a playable character.
Hi everyone here.
First, English is not my native language so pardon me if there is mistakes or wrong spelling.
This is my 1st try to homebrew background and I want to have something quite "open" to be used by anyone who had some links with the Feywild.
For the title, I try to find one that explains that you got a past related to the Feywild and mainly the Feys.
So here it is : Returning from the Feywild

~not a "lazy dungeon master"
Thanks for your answer !
I really like how your druid player acts and that the kind of exchange I wanna see or play.
In fact, I add Arcana because I see it could apply as the knowledge of monsters and what they can do.
