A possible character I would like to play is an Earth Genasi Barbarian/Fighter, but the Earth Genasi sub-race is a bit strange as it doesn't really emphasise any of the things that are in the description of the sub-race; they're not more durable, they can't shape earth, and they can't merge with it in any meaningful way either. Don't get me wrong, a free Pass Without Trace is a fantastic bonus to have, and great for many builds, it just doesn't feel like it captures what the sub-race is described as to me.
The basic idea is pretty simple; they're a bit more like the Fire Genasi in that they get a free cantrip (Mold Eartth) and a once per long rest 1st level spell (Earth Tremor), they have a burrow speed (not quite merging with earth/stone but it starts at 10 feet increasing to 15 and 20 at later levels), and they have a +1 bonus to unarmored AC.
My aim wasn't to go too crazy, it should still be roughly as good as any other Genasi sub-class. In essence I wanted the bonuses to be more of a toolkit than the vanilla Earth Genasi who only really benefits stealth and certain cases of movement. With the Stone Genassi every class should be able to make use of the cantrip/spell and burrowing with a little cunning, meanwhile the +1 unarmored AC is always nice for a Barbarian, Monk or spell-caster, but it's not critical that you build around it.
Former D&D Beyond Customer of six years: With the axing of piecemeal purchasing, lack of meaningful development, and toxic moderation the site isn't worth paying for anymore. I remain a free user only until my groups are done migrating from DDB, and if necessary D&D, after which I'm done. There are better systems owned by better companies out there.
I have unsubscribed from all topics and will not reply to messages. My homebrew is now 100% unsupported.

So I decided to try and come up with a variation of my own, and I'd love some feedback. Introducing the Stone Genasi:
