The base class for this would be the Sorcerer. The Summon could be similar to the Artificer's Defender or the Newest, as of this posting, Beast Master Ranger's Spirit companion, all the time summon. Or just use the Conjuring/Summoning Spells. The big thing the Sorcerer would add, is that the player can spends Meta Magic points to empower their Summons. With the all the time one having Meta Magic Points spent at the beginning of the day. Or every time they level to give different boosts to it. Yes it can take quite a bit away from what is the core of the Sorcerer with using Meta Magic Points in this way. But it would also allow for the Summon to be far more customizable and/or powerful since it taking 'power' away from the core class. If using the Spells to Summon then some new Meta Magics to boost them but would cost more then boost an 'companion' Summon for an similar effect. Another possibility could also be the Summoner pre-spends, Empower an ability or what ever way to think of it to have all their Summons for the day to have a set bonus.
At the very least it could be an starting off point for Magic the Gathering's Plane Walker type character with all the cross over work being done between the two IPs. Use the Points like Mana to do things.
I feel that it mechanic could work for a full class with a core Chi/Meta Magic Points are used to empower/unlock different abilities. It would be a more complex class because of this but could have a lot of future possibility. Or at the very least ideas to be used with other Sub Classes for the Sorcerer or even the Monk with their similar Chi Point system.
Thank you everyone for your time, hopefully this is bringing something new and not waste all of your time. Or has been brought up before.
