As the title says, I decided on a whim to try my hand at making a simple subclass for Barbarians. Any feedback would be welcome, as I always figured Barbarians could use a more 'defender' type of archetype.
I'll be blunt with you, at first read this subclass is pretty underwhelming. I do like the idea of having a main mechanic that focuses on protecting others, but it needs some more work. Okay, lets break this down into snippets. (I'm not going to go into it too much for now, but here's what I got from my initial read)
3rd level - Both these features could be treated as one and are very situational up front since it relies on your "Devotees" to be render unconscious. I do think that this tier of features needs another look and could be boosted.
6th level - I do like this feature and is fitting, but I would personally allow the the rage to mitigate the damage for now.
10th level - Personally I think that this feature in concept is cool but is currently worded a bit clunky and without a cap can be potentially ridiculous
14th level - Personally, I would change it to something like, when a devotee is reduced to 0 hit points but not killed outright, they are reduced to 1 hit point instead. As is, I'm not really sure how I think about this one... need more time to think about it.
