Our party has two warlocks - one a dedicated Eldritch Blast focused ranged attack specialist, the other (mine) a multiclass bladelock. In an effort to not compete with the other character's thing, and as a nod of respect to my old WoW 'lock, I came up with the following spell to basically replace Eldritch Blast. The DM likes it, and we're going to playtest it for a fairly long term campaign, but I'd appreciate any feedback you might like to offer:

Necrotic (...)
You curse your target with a damaging affliction, racking their body with shadowy torment.
Make a ranged spell attack against the target. On a hit, the target takes 1d6 of necrotic damage. At the start of your next turn, the target takes an additional 1d4 necrotic damage.
At the end of that turn, you gain 1/2 of the damage inflicted as temporary hit points.
This spell's damage increases when you reach 5th level (2d6 + 2d4), 11th level (3d6 + 3d4), and 17th level (4d6 + 4d4).
Note that any Warlock class feature that effects Eldritch Blast or Hex, or a Warlock feature that curses will also effect Affliction (which may also fulfill any prerequisite requiring those spells).
