So I am working on a new subclass for the Ranger and I had this idea, of making the ranger and animal companion mystically linked through a feature called Companion Bond. The idea is that companion bond expands as the ranger hits its 11th and 15th level.
Companion Bond
Starting at the 3rd level, while your Animal Companion is within 100 feet of you:
You can communicate with it telepathically.
As an action, you can see through your Animal Companion's eyes and hear what it hears until the start of your next turn, gaining the benefits of any special senses that the Animal Companion has. During this time, you are considered deafened and blinded with regard to your own senses.
Your Animal Companion gains the benefits of your Favored Enemy Feature, and uses the same Favored Enemies you selected for that feature.
When you gain the Land's Stride and Feral Senses features, the benefits granted by those features also apply to your Animal Companion.
When you reach certain levels in this class, the range of your Companion Bond feature increases: at 7th level its range is 200 feet, 11th level is 300 feet, and 15th level has no range limitation.
Share Bond
Beginning at 7th level, your Animal Companion receives the following benefits:
If you cast a spell targeting yourself, you can choose to have that spell also affect your Animal Companion.
The Animal Companion's attacks now count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage.
Bestial Fury
Starting at 11th level, when you command your Animal Companion to take the Attack action, the companion can make two attacks, or it can take the Multiattack action if it has that action.
Magical Bond (Need a better name)
Starting at 15th level, your companion receives the following abilities:
When you cast a spell, your companion can deliver the spell as if it had cast the spell. Your companion must be within range of your Companion Bond Feature, and it must use its reaction to deliver the spell when you cast it. If the spell requires an attack roll, you use your attack modifier for the roll.
So basically you gain some benefits as you go, my main concern is does this seem to weak or two strong? The part that worries the most is that technically at level 15 you could cast a spell from anywhere in the world as your Companion Bond wouldn't have a range limitation and you can now cast spells through your companion. Basically this is just an idea I am working on and figured it would be best to ask for advice.
