I know this has been discussed in other threads, but I have a different idea and am looking for some additional insight into implementing it.
I am trying to make a Feat that adds proficiency in Persuasion or doubles proficiency if the character is already proficient. I've seen posts saying to make multiple feats, one for proficiency and one for expertise, but this negates the wording of the Feat. My idea is to set a modifier that adds the proficiency bonus to persuasion without making the character proficient in it. My reasoning is that, for example, if they are a Paladin and choose Persuasion as one of their skills, giving them proficiency or expertise is going to cancel out that selected skill, thus they get expertise in Persuasion and proficiency in a third Paladin skill.
My issue at this point is that I can't figure out a way to add the proficiency bonus to a skill without just adding proficiency. I've tried doing a Bonus modifier to Persuasion and leaving all spaces blank but selecting the Proficiency Bonus in the Additional Bonus Type. This doesn't do anything to the skill though, regardless of proficiency or not. Just looking to see if anybody has any idea on how this could be done.
