I got the option to create my "signature weapon" for my first ever campaign! pretty fun but I have no idea how to balance features and mechanics or what is considered OP or gamebreaking. I tried to keep the damage in the higher level imbuements relevant considering you're giving up a potential meteor swarm or Wish but not so strong that it's an obvious "win condition" move. My DM says it seems balanced but I don't want an accidentally outrageous weapon, so hit me with some feedback or ideas! Here it is:
Evoker's Weaveblade (Legacy Weapon)
Magic Scimitar +1
While attuned this sword grants +1 to attack and damage rolls made with this weapon, +1 to spell attack, and can be used as a focus for Wizard spells.
Dormant ability:
As a Bonus action, you may imbue this sword for one minute with an evocation spell that deals elemental, radiant, or force damage. The spell must expend a 1st level or greater spell slot. When imbued, the sword deals damage of the spells specified element as well as weapon damage. The amount of extra damage is determined by the level spell slot used to imbue the sword as detailed below:
Dormant Awakened Exalted
1st - 1d4 1d4 1d4
2nd - 1d6 1d6 1d6
3rd - 1d8 1d8 1d8
4th - 2d4 2d6 2d6
5th - 2d6 2d8 2d8
6th - 2d8 2d10 2d10
7th - 3d4 3d6 3d8
8th - 3d6 3d8 3d10
9th - 3d8 3d10 3d12
Ability for Awakened state maybe goes here?
Exalted ability: Evoker's Flourish
As an action, while Weaveblade is imbued with a spell, the wielder may choose to allow the flow of arcane energy overtake them and discharge the remaining imbued magic in a devastating flourish. During Evoker's Flourish the wielder makes 4 strikes against one enemy and suffers 1 point of exhaustion. The elemental dice for these strikes is double (e.g. 4d10 instead of 2d10). Upon completion of the ability, the imbued spell dissipates and Weaveblade cannot be imbued again for 1 minute. This ability may not be used again until dawn of the next day.
**That's all I have! Thanks for any pointers or recommendations, I would love to hear other ideas as well!**
