I've been dabbling in the realm of online D&D for a short while now as a player, so I'm ready to see how my in-person DM style measures up. Like the Title says, I'm looking to run a slightly modified version of the Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus book. While I was initially planning on going full homebrew, I unwittingly dropped a investment into the module on Roll20...which led to me saying f&^k it and latching on to the idea of running it, buying some stuff on DMs Guild and typing up my own ideas.
My DM style is primarily theater-of-mind, with a majority of the map-shenanigans happening during combat. Though I am dabbling with the maps I have available. I actively encourage PC->PC and PC->NPC interactions/roleplay (in a roleplaying game, who knew) so long as you can play well with the rest of the group and are cognizant of the clock. I do flex the rules a bit as a DM, but mainly to keep things entertaining and moving along at a decent pace. I do have one or two house rules that I'll explain once things get started, but going into them here will just take up more space. As far as combat goes, I have been told that I'm a bit brutal, but fair, so take that however you want.
That said, looking for 4-5 people for the table. Experience in 5e is a major plus, but anyone is free to apply. If you have knowledge of online D&D and wouldn't mind imparting some of that to me, that'd definitely put you on a higher priority. As far as age goes, because of the nature of the book and my own colorful vocabulary I'd prefer to have an 18+ table. I don't mean to exclude younger people from D&D, but there are some violent, graphic scenes in this campaign that I don't particularly feel comfortable going into detail with a younger crowd. Other DMs may be fine with it, but Id rather not have to tell to a 13 year-old how a man screams as his insides are gnarled on by demons.
Character race/class info will be from the standard PHB and sourcebook pairings, so long as it is generally appropriate for the setting. Homebrew/UA content will be allowed upon review by DM. Stats will be done through Point buy or Standard Array. Character loadout will be basic class/background equipment with any modifications reviewed first by the DM. Character level will start at 2 and will progress as the story ramps up.
If all goes well, I'll be ready to kick things off this coming Monday (26OCT). If you have questions or are interested in joining, feel free to reply here to keep this thread visible or PM me.
Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online (Audio: Discord, Rolls: Roll20) Experience: Few Years face-to-face/ 3-ish months online Location/Timezone: EST Schedule: Most evenings past 4EST. Except Tuesday and some Weekends. Roles sought: Player (4-5) Game style: fair amount of theatre of mind and RP. I don't hold back during combat and prefer to keep it moving as quickly as possible.
I am interested. i play a few games online and have a decent amount of knowledge. i am a veteran player in dnd. 20 years experience. time would be the only issue. still willing to help out even if i cant play.
I have played dnd a quite a bit and have a great imagination however never online with this system but really looking forward to trying it out even if to watch. Not sure how to go about getting started in a game with others
Hey bud, this sounds cool. I'd be interested in jumping into it. I made a LFG post a couple of days ago so info on me HERE. Feel free to message me on here or on discord (Discord: ThatSilentSoul#6544).
Howdy everyone! We're sitting at about 5 people deep and are a fair number of weeks into the game. However one of the party has to drop due to schedule conflicts and we definitely could use another player to round out the team. All players are at level 5, so we can iron out the details of you character and what items they have.
The previous terms still in effect if you want to apply. Just to be clear, If you leave me a message on this thread asking me to contact you there is a low probability of me seeing it. Best bet is to leave a reply here and send me a private message.

I’m willing to give it a try. This is my first time doing this online. I just got a character made so I’m only 1st level.
I'd be down to join depending on the schedule. You can contact me at Madetofarm#4651 on discord.

I would definitely be interested in this campaign. I am a new player. I have character ideas for any class needed. Contact me on Discord Hoss#8410.
