Hi! DM from upstate NY here, trying to "go pro" and looking to fill some slots in my card.
DM LFG!!!
ABOUT ME: Hi! my name is Zak, 38 years old from east coast USA(EST). I have been playing 5e for around 5 years now, though I started playing D&D back in the late 80s with Basic/Expert and 2nd Ed. Advanced.
SCHEDULING: At of the time of this post, I am available Weds, Fri, Sat any time(early morning or late nights = no problem! Start times from 8 am to 10pm) , or Thursday after 7 pm. Availability is subject to change.
ABOUT MY GAMES:I have several source books for character creation available to share on DNDBeyond.com (players bundle, master tier subscription), and several hardcopy campaigns available to choose from. I also homebrew adventures and can intermingle them throughout the official material, or make an entire hombrew campaign if desired. I offer a free 2 hour long session 0/1, and I'm asking each player for a small 5$ "gratuity" per 2 hour session(or 7.50$/4hr/player) after that, to cover some of my opportunity costs...time is money, as they say. I am payable via ***** a minimum of 3 days before the session, non refundable(to avoid last minute cancelations.)
REQUIREMENTS: I do not require any special software other than a DNDB account for character sheets and a browser that can run meets.google.com videochat
COMMUNICATION: I prefer to use Google meets web based video chat if possible, as it works well with my other software, I can provide info if needed on how to get it set up, a small download may be required if you do not have a Google account. (If you prefer discord, i may be able to make that work as well, though I am a newb there.)
STYLE: I use a greenscreen and OBS studio to share maps and other images/video to keep the game visually appealing for players and any potential viewers. Maps are a mix of 2d/3d(dependant on the session), and custom tokens are available if you have an image you would like to use for your character(portrait or full body). Cosplay is always welcome, but never required.
SAFETY: Safecards/safewords are employed to ensure the comfort of players, an explanation regarding how and why they are used will be included in session zero.
PLAYER AGE REQUIREMENT: 18 and up only please, select groups of 16 and up with parent's permission, mostly because I occasionally have a "potty mouth" while describing things, and that's not going to change anytime soon.
If all/any this interests you, I have a few questions:
How many players are in your group? The absolute maximum i can host is 6, though 4-5 is recommended for better/faster play.
Are there any brand new players in your group, or does everyone have at least some familiarity with how the game works? I don't mind helping people learn to play, this just helps me decide which campaigns to run. I have Lost mine of Phandelver Starter kit as well as the Dragon of Icespire Peak Essentials kit, both are good entry level adventures, or if your group prefers something more substantial I can start them in a number of other campaigns(Out of the Abyss, Dragon Heist, Dungeon of the Mad Mage, Acquisitions Inc to name a few)
Does everyone who wants to play have a reasonable webcam capable of at least 30 fps and decent internet?( 200Mbit down 20 up prefered, to avoid lag. Generally mobile phones do not work well for my setup). If not, do they have a decent mic and understand the importance of muting if background noise is a problem/not chewing food on an open mic? This is important for the enjoyment of all players at the table.
Would your group possibly be ok with me recording the session with video chat for YT?(18 and up only). If so, I would be willing to reduce the amount of gratuity to $2.50/2hrs/player, or 4$/4hrs/player(thats just 1$per hour to play dnd!!! What a steal, lol!)
Can everyone keep real world politics/shittalking out of the game? This includes not having any potentially offensive posters or objects in the background of your facecam...
Can everyone follow "Wheaton's Law"? (Wheaton's Law=Don't be a Dick, see below)
No racism or sexism,or other isms, barring character interactions in game. If your character hates deep gnomes or humans or whatever, that's fine, I consider it part of storytelling, and it can be great for character development/plot arcs...However, if you hate a group of people irl for whatever reason and you feel the need to mention it in game, I am not a good fit for you as a DM.)
If you're interested please feel free to contact me on the dndbeyond.com site, username OmraGedkaz, or send me an email at zakdegarmo@gmail.com with "Play DND" in the subject line
Thanks for your consideration, hope to hear from you soon!!
