D&D Experience:
I’ve played through a lot of 3.5e when I was in junior high all through high school. I’ve played through and completed the Curse of Strahd campaign here on Roll20 a few years ago and I’m currently involved in Out of the Abyss with another group on Roll20.
My Style:
I very much enjoy roleplay-heavy games with story and worldbuilding primarily with combat and puzzles being secondary (though still important). I just really like getting into character and seeing how they work in the world we are given. I do have an interest in trying out a Chaotic Neutral or Neutral Evil character, but to be clear I have no intention of murderhoboing or working against the group. My Chaotic Neutral character is just a hedonist and my Neutral Evil character just wants to accumulate power, and working with heroes can give him that chance. As far as characters, I tend to love playing spellcasters and filling the role of Glass Cannon, but I’m willing to try and diversify. Also, I’m afraid my language skills are limited to English.
What I’m Looking For:
I’m looking to join a group that doesn’t charge (I’m poor), that is LGBT friendly, preferably 20+ as I’d rather RP with other adults, roleplay and story heavy, and a DM that allows for all official D&D material (PHB, Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything, etc.). I’m looking to join a game that will be exploring the Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden or the Tyranny of Dragons campaigns, though I’d also be open to Tomb of Annihilation, Curse of Strahd (if no one minds that I’ve played through it once before), other premade campaigns or homemade campaigns.
Hobbies:
I love to draw, and it’s very likely that I’ll try to draw our characters and/or scenes from our game.
POTENTIAL CHARACTERS
Character Name:
Turac Bitterwind
Race:
Human (Variant)
Age:
16 – 21ish
Sex:
Male
Class:
Sorcerer | Draconic (White Dragon)
Alignment:
Chaotic Neutral
Background:
Charlatan
Backstory:
Turac has lived in a family of criminals, thugs, and con artists and has become as such. He enjoys a hedonistic lifestyle and has trouble resisting his vices. He is proud of his heritage and fully believes the family story that an ancient ancestor of theirs slew a White Dragon that cursed his bloodline, making his lineage fall from heroes to criminals. What he doesn’t know is that this story is a lie. But for now, he has been happy to serve as the family’s con-artist. Unfortunately, the family was scattered after they crossed the High Captains of Luskan. In a panic, they had to flee and Turac fled north, hoping the cold mountains would keep his pursuers at bay.
Family Secret:
He isn’t even related to the family that raised him. In truth, there was a White Dragon that terrorized a village near the Icewind Dale and a warrior tried to kill it and failed. His wife, now widowed and pregnant with his child, made a deal with an entity in the hopes that she could kill it with magic. Instead, the magic bound the dragon to her body, essentially turning her into a half-dragon. After the merging, she gave birth to an egg that still held her developing child. Before it hatched, a gang of thugs tried to ambush and kill her, but she flew away to try and lead them away from her lair. Some stayed behind to raid it for treasure and found the egg. They took it and fled into town, abandoning the others. They planned to sell it, but the egg began to hatch, revealing the newborn Turac.
Character Name:
Barathon Liadon
Race:
High Elf
Age:
141ish
Sex:
Male
Class:
Wizard | Order of the Scribes
Alignment:
Neutral Evil
Background:
Sage
Backstory:
Nothing was particularly noteworthy about Barathon Liadon before a year ago. He was the son of an arcane practitioner and her city guard husband in Waterdeep. They wanted their son to attend Eltorchul Academy to study magic, and he obliged. He was a decent student. Ambitious to expand his and others' knowledge of magic. As such, he was frequently studying tomes and performing experiments. One evening, he received a char and dirt covered crystal that seemed...strange, to say the least. Privately, he cleaned off the gemstone and prepared to examine it closer. Whatever he saw in the crystal was so horrifying and beautiful that it broke his mind, and in an attempt to feel what he saw, he carved out his left eye and shoved the crystal into the socket. The following morning, he was found in the infirmary, messily sewing his left eyelids closed along with lacerations around the eye socket. His whole demeanor had changed; from quiet and mild, he was now whimsical and erratic. He stopped using his last name, insisting he only be called Barathon. He was no longer content with the curriculum he studied at the academy, nor their scheduling. He was often spotted in the libraries at odd hours, practicing magic outside of designated zones. His behavior became disruptive and, to some, disturbing. Before they could expel him, Barathon fled the academy in the dead of night.
What Happened?
They knew he was behaving strangely, but they didn’t realize that he was literally not the elf they knew. That night that he replaced his eye with the crystal, his blood allowed for magic to surge into his body, burning up his soul into nothing and letting this new energy act as its replacement. This crystal was a shard of the original Weave created by the Goddess Mystryl, but until this point had no will or sense of memory. Now, it has access to Barathon’s memories and knowledge and has warped what used to be his ambitions to extreme heights. Rather than climbing the shoulders of giants to expand knowledge of magic, he would attempt to trample the Gods to break the rules of magic and bend reality to his will. This magical force inside him does not grant him extra power in any way, but using Detect Magic around him will reveal a reddish-pink aura emanating from his left eye socket and True Seeing will reveal the same thing, though with his body grayed out. If someone were to use Dispel Magic, Antimagic Field, or similar spells on him on him will stun him. High levels of such spells or prolonged exposure runs the chance of eradicating the magic force within him and rendering him comatose, still without a soul. A benefit of this force inside him—if allowed—is when he travels into a dead magic zone, he can still cast arcane magic as he is not connected to the Weave, but a fragment of it.
Character Name:
Krusk Webcap
Race:
Half-Orc
Age:
17ish
Sex:
Male
Class:
Druid | Circle of Spores
Alignment:
Neutral Good
Background:
Hermit
Backstory:
Krusk was born and abandoned in the Vast Swamp by his Orc barbarian mother. He was left because, as a Half-Orc, he was scrawnier and considered too weak to be part of the tribe. Though left for the wildlife, an elf druid woman came across the crying newborn and took him to an abandoned mausoleum that she and other druids had chosen to make shelter. They were outcasts from society and other druid circles because of their fascination with fungi and their position of life through death and decay. Krusk grew up with the Circle as they began to use the mausoleum more like a sanctuary and building stilted huts in the muck of the swamp. He was happy with them, learning to appreciate and cultivate fungi, and learned to love the wildlife that they interacted with every day. He was always shy, though, always keeping quiet when adults were talking, when Lizardfolk came by to trade or make deals with the druids, or when the occasional adventurer came through. He only ever seemed to be less shy around the animals, the plants and fungi, and even a few Myconids they druids made contact with as they dug deeper through the bottom of the mausoleum. When he started reaching adult age, the elf that first took him into the Circle suggested he see the world, as he was still a young man that had a great deal of potential both within and without the Circle. He was scared, but also felt a strong need to do as she said. He liked making his superiors happy, after all, and perhaps venturing out and learning more would do just that.
Significant Moment:
When Krusk was around eight years old, he longed for a pet. Someone he didn’t have to be shy around and could take care of; unfortunately, it was at this time that a somewhat intimidating Halfling druid came to him. He told Krusk of a ritual that required him to gather several venomous insects and a jar. Eager to please another elder in the Circle, Krusk went to work, collecting spiders, centipedes, and scorpions. Once he had them in different boxes, he convinced another elder to let him borrow a clear glass jar. He finally brought them all to the Halfling who then instructed Krusk to put all of the bugs in the jar. He was hesitant at first, knowing that these creatures were likely to kill each other, but he still did it when urged on. Just as he feared, the bugs began to fight within the jar and he watched in horror as they killed each other. Eventually, all that stood was a gravely wounded centipede. The Halfling proceeded to tell Krusk that the world is like the jar, trapping people together and only the strongest survive. The elder went on to instruct Krusk to kill the centipede and extract its venom, as it would be a potent ingredient for a spell he was working on. Once the Halfling left, Krusk began to cry, watching the centipede weakly cling to life while he pleaded with the spirits of nature to save the creature he had doomed. He was observed by the elf elder who happened upon him just as he tapped into nature’s magic and miraculously cast Healing Word upon the bug. Its wounds healed and its vitality returned. Krusk was still sad that he couldn’t save the rest of the bugs, but it seemed his actions were rewarded as the centipede seemed to be non-hostile towards him and allowed itself to be kept as his pet. Sometime later, Krusk came to his room to find the centipede killed, the Halfling elder standing there with a scowl on his face, angry at him for taking so long to get the venom. Shortly after, the elf elder walked in to see what was happening and angrily banished the halfling from the Circle. Krusk then had to sadly bury his centipede friend just outside his hut. He’s still sad about his brief pet, but was surprised when he found a mushroom growing on the spot he buried it. That mushroom has since grown larger and had several other sprout around it.
