[Online] Mondays, 5-7pm PST / 8-10pm EST - D&D campaign for first time players

About you

These aren’t hard requirements, but are just to give you an idea of the kind of person I’m looking to DM for.

• You haven’t played D&D before, or if you have, it’s been a long time since you last played.
• While playing, you’re not only concerned about having fun for yourself, but also look for opportunities to make the game more fun then others.
• You’re looking for a game with a focus on creative problem solving and tactical combat. Role playing how your character would act in a specific situation is a spice that makes those things more interesting, but not the main focus in and of itself.
• While you can commit to playing on a regular basis, it’s challenging for you to dedicate more than a couple hours a week to the game.
• You’re willing to work with a novice DM who might get flustered from time to time.

Format

• Sessions will be two hours in length, from 5:00pm to 7:00 PST. We’ll play on a weekly basis, taking every fourth week off.
• We’ll be playing through the Lost Mine of Phandelver campaign, which theoretically should take about 10 sessions to finish (this is just a rough estimate).
• We’ll be using only the core D&D 5e rules (i.e. only character options from the Players Handbook). No previous experience will be assumed, and you don’t need to prepare or buy anything before joining.
• We’ll play via Foundry VTT and discord for voice chat (no experience with either is necessary).
• I’ll recruit four players. Some will probably drop out (if you decide my game isn’t for you, that’s totally fine). I personally have enjoyed smaller games the best, and so would rather have a group a bit on the small side, than one that is too big.

About the DM

I played D&D back in high school and university, but went on a 15 year hiatus after graduating. With COVID-19, I got back into the hobby, and have been playing online for the last 6 months. Now I’m ready to try DMing my own game.

Code of Conduct

All players are required to agree with the following code of conduct. The DM will enforce this code throughout the game. We expect cooperation from all players to help ensure a safe environment for everybody.

The DM is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, or religion (or lack thereof).

We do not tolerate harassment of players in any form. Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate for any venue, including the game itself, the discord server, and other online media.

Players violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the game at the discretion of the DM.

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact the DM immediately.
