I've been playing DND since ADnD and have had a chance to play (and spend way too much on) every edition since. I've run stock games (starting with The Lost City) and homebrewed games (including my current Ravenloft Prequels). I'm a huge fan of the original Ravenloft module for it's internal consistency and logic. I prefer games that are thematic and story driven over heavy mechanics. I don't like battle boards and counting off ranges. I don't mind when players ask "Can I..?" but I prefer to hear "How do I...?" I like it when the players genuinely win but prefer to avoid TPK's.
I've been streaming DND now for about 6 months and feel like I've more or less gotten the hang of bring together a diverse group over Zoom to the game table. I cap my games at 4 players so it's easier to get around the table and try to keep everyone engaged. IRL I feel I can play with 6 but on Zoom it's a different story. I do generally prefer zoom over discord for video calls because it's easier to stay consistent with set up and I can easily get everyone into the feed quickly rather than doing a lot of layout work each stream.
The games:
At present I'm running a game on Sunday which is about to transition into Curse of Strahd. I'm planning to run it a little story based so it won't be quite the full open sandbox (if you know what that means). I do not know if there is a seat for that available. Game time is 7pm EDT.
Wednesdays I'm running Candlekeep Adventures. Game time is 7pm EDT. At present this game is set with 4 players but there may be a seat opening up in the coming weeks. EDIT: This game is indeed opening to at least one new player. My expectation is that the rest of the players plan to stay.
I'm considering adding a game in the following slots: Alternating Monday evenings, Friday Evenings, Saturday Middays, Saturday Nights. Possible stories are Waterdeep: Dragon Horde, The Lost City, Homebrew Ravenloft RePlays (the homebrew game I started in Novemeber), Candlekeep RePlays (since it's hot and I have it and I know it pretty well now).
You:
Please have experience with being on cam. You don't need to be a star but here's what it comes down to: I need to know a little about you and your persona before I feel comfortable putting you on the channel. Some things that help include having done something on YouTube or other video site and becoming part of the community on currently established game nights. Background noises happen; we all have families. You should have a decent cam/mic and a relatively low traffic background.
If you are a streamer, you'll get a chance every show to plug your work. And by being part of the community we can continue to grow off of each other.
It would also help if you're at least familiar enough with Discord to use it for communication and coordination.
Thank you you so much for your interest and reading this far! If you'd like to see what I've been working on here is a link to YouTube where you can easily find past streams: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSmDHRSLu0fcNVN1IGnVpmw
Just finished watching your video you posted a few days ago -- loved it. Upon reading the above post - I find myself very interested in playing in your Candlekeep campaign. I am an inside sales manager who uses zoom all day to communicate with my sales team, so I find it quite easy to use and my comfortability with it is high. I'd say the best way to describe my personality is a mixture of Dean from supernatural and Joey from Full House.
I'd love to speak with you further about the potential to play in your stream. Thank you sir.
