North of the Spine of the World and west of the towering Reghed Glacier is a frigid expanse few dare to explore, let alone inhabit. This icy land of windswept tundra recently became locked in a perpetual, dark winter without reprieve. Auril the Frostmaiden, the divine embodiment of winter’s fury, has withdrawn to this cold corner of the world to live among mortals. Further, she has cast a terrible spell over Icewind Dale, to the detriment of most of its denizens...
Will you be able to discern the chilling secrets that Icewind Dale holds? Or will you freeze in the snowy, desolate wasteland as you travel on foot?
About Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden:
This campaign revolves around surviving the harsh landscape of Icewind Dale and traversing through its frigid plains of snow and ice. Encounters can each be handled with combat and roleplay and is ultimately up to the players to decide what they wish to do within this tundra. Sessions will last 3-4 hours, though a set time for this game will only be decided based on the schedules of all players.
I will DM for up to 5 people for this campaign, and I welcome all players with differing levels of experience with 5e. We will use voice chat through Discord and we will play through Roll20, so it would be good to be familiar with Roll20 as a VTT.
I highly encourage players to take initiative with the rules of 5e and deliver constructive criticism to me. The only way I can make an enjoyable experience for you as a player is to know what you want from your sessions that you feel like you are lacking. At the end of the day, DnD is meant to be a fun past-time; you would also want to make sure what you are paying for is of a good quality, so please don't be afraid to give constructive criticism. Also, please do not be bigoted (racism, sexism, homophobia, anti-semitism, etc.) in any way, shape, or form before, during, or after sessions. If you are engaging in any behavior, I will immediately pull you from the game and you will not be allowed back at the table. Bear in mind that this is also an 18+ adventure that will involve gore, language, and death. You are meant to try to survive in a land of infinite winter, bear that in mind.
Character Creation Guidelines:
ID: RotFM starts at Level 1 and can end at 9+. We will, of course, be starting at Level 1, and all WoTC content is allowed for character creation. If it is not from a published book, I will not allow it into the game. Homebrew is cool in a personal game or homebrew setting, but not in an official adventure that you are paying to play in.
Stats will be generated in one of two ways: Standard Array or Dice Rolling. Players will choose which they would like to do in a poll. We will also make these characters during a Session 0 in the middle of June. Please have two character concepts for the game in mind by this time so that you have options. Remember that this is a survival-based adventure; dopey little bards with no skills in traversing the land will not be refused (they can be fun!), but they can certainly suck at climbing peaks of snow. Session 0 will allow you to pick one of those concepts and put it into reality within Roll20.
About Me:
My name is Mickey and I prefer to be called that. My pronouns are he/him, I am 21 years old, and I have been a DM for 4 years now. I try to get better at it every week and make sure I am doing the most for my players experience. I really enjoy having an adventure with people in DnD of all types. I have played with my fair share of introverts, extroverts, nerds, and weirdos, and each time has been grand in its own way. I do have an IRL job and I am still in university, so my schedule can be pretty odd, but I will make the most of it with my players.
Payment:
Session 0 is free and will require no payment. It will give you an idea of how I operate and how you will mesh with other players. After Session 0 is when I will ask you to deliver a payment of $5 to ensure that you do want your spot within the adventure. The first session will be $10 itself, and the price will be $15 for subsequent sessions. Please make sure that this will not be an issue. DnD should usually be for free and for fun; if you are debating to spend money on a session, make sure the price works with you 100% before signing up. Payments will always need to be deposited 3 days before the session itself. I will run a game for 4 people minimum, but I will not accept the money of players if I know at least 4 players in total will not be able to make it. Payments should only be for sessions that are going to happen, not that could happen.
Requirements:
You will need a decent quality mic that does not echo. Webcams are not necessary within this game, but you are free to use them if you would like to do so. Please make sure you can play on a Desktop/Laptop that has stable and reliable internet.
