Game: D&D 5E Group Type: Face-to-face (Willing to start online first) Preferred Role: Dungeon Master DM Experience: About 2 years experience Game Style: Heavy RP Location/Timezone: Southern California (Timezone is PST) Schedule: Fridays or Saturdays between 12-9 pm (My availability) Weekly or Bi-Weekly Preferred # of Players: 5-6 (Ages 21 and older)
Hey y'all! With things opening up and vaccines being readily available, I'm looking to find a local group of experienced players (an already formed group is acceptable) to run a heavy-rp homebrew campaign with (gameplay would also have a good mix of combat, exploration, and puzzle-solving). I live in Orange County, California (close to Knotts Berry Farm) and would be willing to drive to meet up, though only up to an hours drive, however.
The campaign would take place in a homebrew world of my creation; a high fantasy inspired world with elements of steampunk, intrigue, mystery, horror, etc. mixed in. Once a group is formed, I can get into more detail about the world. The campaign itself would be an open world, high adventure game with the ability to discover long lost treasure, solve mysteries, learn forgotten history and possibly save the world from monsters and villians alike.
Important things of note:
Most WotC material is allowed with a few exceptions. Homebrew is also allowed, but only after approval.
I allow the use of digital character sheets (like DNDBeyond) or traditional paper sheets. I do own several books, so if need be, I can bring them if needed.
More than likely, it'll be about a month before I can run full sessions, but we can still get things started (online or in-person) to figure out details and what not.
If we do start online first, the ability to use Discord and having a good quality mic would be necessary. Webcams are optional, though encouraged.
Something I do with every group is to go through any concerns or triggers players may have to make sure the table experience is comfortable for everyone and to avoid running anything that can cause players distress. I consider my players' mental health an important factor to having a great game.
Speaking of, one of my hard NOs in running D&D is fantasy racism. In other words, I don't have racist NPCs and I expect the same from my players' characters.
Lastly, I understand the need to get to know someone before fully committing to a campaign, and if at any point you feel uncomfortable or you don't feel like you gel well with the group or even real life interrupts, I more than understand the need to leave and try again with others. No ghosting required.
I know that was a lot to read, but I wanted to be thorough in the type of players I'm looking for. If you are interested, please fill out this google form. If you're writing for your already formed group, just let me know in the comments section of the google form. After a week, I'll be going through everyone's responses and choosing the candidates that seem the most promising. Hope to hear from you soon. Excelsior!
