Game: D&D 5e
Group type: Online (playing via Roll20, voice call via Discord)
Experience: Around half a year as a player, a couple months as DM solely on this campaign.
Location/Timezone: ACST (Central Australia) - UTC +09:30
Schedule: Fortnightly on Saturdays (8:00 PM AEST / 10:00 AM UTC / 6:00 AM EST), the next session will be on the 5th of June. Sessions tend to last anywhere between 3 to 6 hours.
Roles sought: 1-2 more players. Preferably those less experienced with D&D, but don't hesitate to apply if you do have more experience.
Game style: Optimally, I plan to try my best to prioritise roleplay and exploration, with a slightly lower focus on combat, however I can't promise that I will be able to go through with this due to my inexperience as a DM. The tone of the game will be a mix of both lighthearted and slightly serious moments. I do not currently plan on including any mature or particularly serious parts, however. Mid to high fantasy.

About Me:
First off, I'll introduce myself and get some stuff out of the way.
I'm Aria, a 21-year old trans girl (she/her) from the middle of nowhere, Australia.
(so if any other LGBTQ+ people (or any other minority) out there want to join a group, you're welcome to join mine and not have to worry about discrimination)
This is the first campaign I have ever properly DMed, so I'm still not very experienced and I'm sorry in advance if I struggle with it.
I'm also really awkward in general and not good at social conversations and the like, but I have been trying my best with making the game fun for everybody.

About the Game:
I have been DMing for two groups over the last couple months, one on Saturday and one on Sunday.
Both groups have had 9 sessions total so far, and I only recently changed over to fortnightly.
The Saturday group currently has 4 members, so I'm hoping to bring it up to 5 or 6 with this.
Both groups have just reached level 4, and are indirectly playing together in the same city currently.
The players in the Saturday group consist of two druids, a monk, and a warlock, if that would influence your decision for what kind of character you'd want to play.

About the Campaign:
The world is Lazula, a world of fantastical creatures and magic.
Within the world are four "grey pillars," mysterious magical phenomena that seem to bring both wondrous relics from other worlds and terrible creatures with it, even going as far as to change the very landscape itself surrounding the pillars into the kinds you would never expect to see in a world without magic.
Magic in this world comes from the grey pillars -- from other worlds. Civilisations tend to build themselves a moderate distance away from them for safety, though the powerful magic brought by them is an alluring thing that many want to claim as their own, and are willing to risk their lives to bring civilisation even the slightest bit closer to taming these ferocious magical landmarks.
The story begins in the merchant port city of Ambalt, the capital of the primarily human-ruled Kingdom of Chaelia -- a kingdom located far away from any of the grey pillars. That isn't to say it doesn't have its fair share of problems, though, both magically-caused and humanoid-caused.
Ambalt is known as the "City of Glass," for the central districts of it are primarily made from glass, both opaque and clear. It is a city of white, built along and over a large river that exits into the ocean a short few miles away.
A group of adventurers was hired by Captain Pride of the Ambalt City Guard, based in the central guardhouse located on the main bridge over the river. Over the last month the group have been investigating several different plant-related phenomena, and recently arrived back in the city after one of these expeditions.
Over the last four days, the city has been undergoing its bi-annual equinox festival -- the Rebirth Festival -- and everybody has been enjoying themselves. However, today, on the fourth day of the festival, an enormous tree with three giant dim crystals floating around it grew out from the centre of the river, breaking straight through the main bridge where the central guardhouse was located. Captain Pride's location is unknown, and numerous smaller trees (each with three large glowing crystals floating around them) grew throughout the city at major areas, aiming to destroy these key locations without harming civilians apparently. The group assisted in fending off many of the plant creatures that dug their way out from under the trees, but in the end, the majority of the city was left in ruins.
This is where you join.

(Also, for background, I'd like it if you considered what your connection is to the city, the city guard, or the group behind the attack, so that your character has a reason to more seamlessly join the group)

General rules:
Please join with the intent of respecting everybody at the table.
Please do not do anything that would make the other players feel uncomfortable, or would just in general be considered a social faux-pas.
Nothing too sexual, gory, etc.. If you are unsure about something, just ask me and the rest of the group if it is okay.

Your preferences between roleplay, exploration, and combat: Roleplaying D&D is ultimately a Roleplaying playing game so exploration and combat should be influenced by narrative, I was never particularly fond of searching every corner of a dungeon or engaging in out of place battles because another player decided that they'll inconveniently decide to rob someone "because that's what their character would do" despite having not done so before.
Your preferences for what kind of character you would like to play: I like playing characters with the potential for character development, I don't really have much of a preference, but I do tend to play very diplomatic characters.

Your preferences for what kind of character you would like to play: Pure suport classes like a bard or cleric look like fun. A second rate bard who sees the party adventures as insperation for their new childerns book or a trickster cleric who was just a thief who got chosen by a god by acident or somethink fun and silly along those lines.
