Game: D&D 5e using 2024 Playtest Rules Group type: Online using Discord Experience: Fine with newbies or veterans Location/Timezone: UTC-4 (EDT) Schedule: Weekly on Saturdays at 4:00 PM EDT Roles sought: 1 Player, 18+ Game style: Good mix of combat, roleplay, and exploration. The game is more causal in gameplay style.
Basics Hello, I am DM with a group looking for 1 more player for an Astral space themed DnD Campaign. Sessions will occur online on Discord on a weekly basis on Saturdays at 4:00 PM UTC-4 (Eastern Daylight Time). We will be using the 2024 5th Edition DnD Playtest rules combined with the information released about the final version of the rules with any old 5e content filling in any gaps. Once the new Player Handbook comes out, which will be in Mid-September of this year everyone will tweak their sheets to reflect the final release. This will be straight forward since the playtest material is very similar to the final release. You do not have to have any prior experience with these new rules as I will be me helping everyone make their character sheet with the new rules. Players will be starting at 5th level.
Setting There is not much that you need to know about the setting since the campaign will only briefly take place on my homebrewed world while the rest of the campaign will take place in an unknown solar system. The party will be a team on a Spelljammer sent to make contact with the species in this system. The ship will have a full crew with a chain of command and player levels will be tied to a ranking system, so think the US or UK navy. While roleplaying within this command structure is part of the campaign, it's not overly strict, since this is still DnD and player choice is a high priority. The campaign will stay within this single solar system and will involve interacting with various factions, solving subplots, resolving conflicts, and exploring areas, just like typical DnD. There will be a big overarching plot that will be revealed early on in the campaign. I expect players to be of good to neutral alignments, such as neutral good, lawful neutral, and even chaotic neutral will work, as really chaotic or evil players do not work will with this campaign concept, so Chaotic Evil players that kills and steals everything in sight is not allowed.
Player Expectations I am accepting of players of all genders, sexualities, races, cultures, ethnicities, etc. You can be experienced or a newbie I am fine with either. I only want individuals that are 18 or older, due to everyone in the group being over the age of 18 and the campaign will deal with adult content, such as profanity, complex plotlines, and bloody violence. What is most important to me is a player who can consistently come to sessions, will be a team player, be respectful of everyone, keep one's ego in check, and is more here to have fun with a group of nerds. I have been DM for 1 and a half years and I like to think I am decent at it, but I am defiantly not a professional. I just want everyone to have fun and work together to complete a grand adventure. If you are a type of person who expects intense immersion, flawless game design, are an extreme rules lawyer, or are an extreme powergammer, then this not the group for you.
Form To make things easier for me, please fill out this google form. Your responses will only be seen by me, and they will tell me a little bit more about you and give me a means to contact you. Please answer honestly.
