New player looking for a group

Hey there! I'm wanting to get into D&D for the first time and I'm looking for a group to take me in.

 A little bit about me for anyone interested: I've always loved fantasy, RPG video games, and writing and I'm looking to have my own adventure in a different medium. I don't have any experience with D&D but I'm a fast learner and can pick up concepts pretty fast. Really, I just want to have some fun, try something new, and meet some incredible people. I'm looking for a decent amount of rp and chances to really flesh out a character. 

Side note: after a weird dream I had last night, I have a very strong desire to make a Firbolg, so just be aware of that
