Hi there, Hopefully all of the details for the game should be listed below, or touched on. If you do have any questions, please do reach out. I make an effort to respond to all messages, as nothing is worse than typing out a response, and never hearing back.
Please read through all the sections below, and if this is the game for you, reply to the thread and we'll go from there
Logistics:
Platform: Roll20 for Game play; Discord for Communication.
Characters: D&D beyond (We have a campaign)
Day and Time: Fridays 8pm EST. | Saturdays 10am Australian
Frequency: Fortnightly
*The time can shift a little due to daylight savings, so please be able to accomodate minor changes based on the season. ** The next session is scheduled for Friday July 16th/ Saturday July 17th
About the game:
I've always been a fan of creating a unique story, hence I aim to deliver to the narrative, but tailor it so that player decisions can have visible repercussions.
This is specifically the 'out of the abyss' module. We are a little shy of the halfway point, and in the story this a great joining point. Although, a good story is rooted in reality. I enjoy themes, of classism, politics, wealth, and some discrimination (The underdark is rife with clashes between the races). Most races/ classes are fine, however I'd prefer to avoid gun slingers/ artillerists. So pick up a sword or get ready to shoot fireballs instead!
Characters are currently ~level 7, and the party is comprised of:
Human Druid (Circle of the Moon)
Halfling Monk (Way of the Open Fist)
Changeling Sorcerer (Aberrant mind)
*The first true character death recently occurred during a boss fight.
About me the DM:
I'm 27 year old, from Australia, and have been DMing this group for the last 10 months or so. What I lack in experience, I'll make up for in effort, story telling and energy. I work full time in IT, so this is a hobby, and as such having limited time to dedicate to DMing, I'm hoping to find an additional party member who is respectful of time, the rest of the group, isn't afraid to be silly and will take risks to be a hero. My ability to perform isn't amazing, but distinct NPCs have their own voices, mannerisms and characteristics, which I hope adds to everyone's immersion. Description is fun, so monster X won't just use it's bite attack, but rather lunge at you with serrated teeth, tearing into flesh, leaving open wounds as it reels back.
About the group:
We're all in the late 20's/Early 30s bracket and have come together through the passion to play D&D, tell a story and have fun. Sadly a couple of players have dropped out due to the various personal circumstances, and now we're looking for someone to make us whole again.
There are currently 3 players, and myself, so there are plenty of opportunities for you to make an impact within the group.
Game setting:
Our adventures are deep in the underdark, having escaped imprisonment by the drow, desperate to return to the surface. Fleeing from settlement to settlement they seek passage to the surface. Along the way they've encountered troubling signs: Living organisms infected and controlled by fungi, sentient oozes seeking to consume all in their path, treacherous worship of the Prince of Demons.
I'll work with you, both to catch you up on the story, and to create a character that fits and can add value to the team and adventure.
Playstyle:
It's all about balance. A little RP, and some combat. Depending on what the party is doing, this may tilt one way for the session. But I believe in a 60/40 split. Overall though, you can expect that if you want a fight, you'll find one. However, you may want to be coy, and manipulative, then by all means try to talk your way out of conflict. Sessions will have a loose flow and goal. What you do and the consequences of your actions, are in your hands.
About you:
Be open minded. This is fun. You don't have to be a theatrical, you do have to give it a go. If you're new, welcome! If you're a veteran, this might offer a different experience. Overall, this adventure is for those who want to do good, or at least be neutral. Please don't murder everyone. If you are seeking gold, glory and some new friends along the way. This might be the game for you.
There will be times where your character is in the spotlight, and sometimes not. It is expected that you are respectful, work collaboratively and participate.
If you're interested:
We're here for a long time, not a good time. It's important your play style and personality fits in with the group, and that you also enjoy the experience as well. So if you could answer the following, we can hopefully see your personality shine through. Feel free to be as detailed or concise as you'd like
Name and pronouns:
Discord ID:

D&D 5e experience:
What are you looking for in a game?
What prompted you to want to join this game?:
How would you describe your play style?
If you were a vegetable, what would you be?
What's your favourite fantasy/Sci fi book, movie or game?
D&D 5e Experience: Only one full campaign and a couple of partials that stopped meeting.
Looking For: A more roleplay heavy campaign. I’m interested in something longer term to have a chance to really develop characters and stories otherwise a chance to play dnd with new people.
Want to join: The time and style sound like they would work for me and the setting sounds interesting.
Play Style: Roleplay, Casual, Exploration
Vegetable: Radish
Fav Fantasy Book Series: Stormlight Archive - Brandon Sanderson
D&D 5e experience: played 2e ages and ages ago, re-discovered DnD and 5e during the pandemic. I know a fair bit, but I still have a lot to learn about 5e, the ruleset is so enormous.
What are you looking for in a game? I enjoy all kinds of games, they're each a different kind of fun. Heavy RP? I love it! Powergaming? Great challenge! When I DM, I'm usually more story oriented, but as a player I love everything. For both, I really enjoy the opportunity to explore the psyche of the characters I create and learn more things about them as I play and the fun of acting too. It's a great exercise as a writer too (I'm working on a novel had some short stories pubbed).
What prompted you to want to join this game?: DnD addiction :)
How would you describe your play style? Totally varies on the campaign. I've got characters that are utterly useless in battle but great for RPing, and others that are totally optimized battle machines. Either way, I really like to start with interesting character concepts.
If you were a vegetable, what would you be? A potato maybe? weirdly, this would be far easier to answer if you had asked what fruit...
What's your favourite fantasy/Sci fi book, movie or game? Oh man, ok as a standalone: Dune is f*ing amazing. As a series, I loved Wheel of Time (tho I never finished it b/c, while I applaud Sanderson for finishing the series, his terse writing style is just not for me), movie: Pan's Labyrinth 100% (Spanish Civil War plus Fantasy??? My intensest interests combined!) and game: deffo Skyrim. I can't stop playing Skyrim.
