I run a campground in Berger MO. We have a cave and some great terrain for gaming. I am putting together 4, possibly more, minni D&D convention outdoor camping weekends. These would be in person sessions, small groups outdoors to meet social distancing requirements. I am in the process of interviewing DM's to run adventures. DM's would be paid. Optional early arrival and setup starts on Wednesday, official gaming starts Thursday evening and can run as late as DM's want on Sunday, with official checkout on Monday morning for the hardcore gamers. Weekends are currently set for one each month June- September. Gaming tents for protection from the elements will be provided in case of wind and rain. If you are interested in participating in one or more weekends. You can see pictures of our campground terrain and our cave on our Facebook page @SageMountainCamping We are also looking to contract Game Masters to run adventures for our regular season guests as well. I would love to discuss the possibility of having you out to game with us.
This concept seems to combine my two favorite pastimes: playing D&D and camping. Engaging in both, at the same time, surprisingly, has never been something that's crossed my mind (many of my former roleplaying groups had members who weren't into camping, and our camping cohorts weren't all into roleplaying games--though I now wonder if they'd have been receptive to the idea of gaming had I only asked).
My family and I are newly moved to south-central MO, and I and my two eldest children (teenagers both) are longing to engage in some more gaming beyond our family's milieu. I've been gaming (on and off) since 1991, starting with D&D 2nd edition. I'm familiar with each subsequent edition, except 4e.
As my family and I are busy starting a hobby farm, we're rather busy keeping animals and harvesting fruits/veggies, but I've been experiencing "the urge" to do some more roleplaying. If you continue this camping/gaming venture next year, I would love to interview for a GM position, or, failing that, just play in one (or more) of the games.
