I'm relatively new to dnd. I joined a campaign several weeks ago but lets just say its not going well. I have a hard time getting into the sessions and I've just generally lost interest for various reasons. I'm a bit disappointed as it was my first experience with dnd but I don't want it to spoil my opinion of the game and I want to try again. So I'm looking for a new group to play with and hopefully one that's a little more open minded.
A little bit about me and what I'm looking for. I spend most of my free time drawing, writing, and playing video games. I love nature and just generally being outdoors. I'm pretty laid back and I enjoy meeting new people. I'm in EST/EDT and will have a weird schedule with school starting up again soon
I'm not really looking for anything specific, mostly just any long term campaign, preferably D&D 5e (homebrew or pre-written) as well as one that has not yet started but I'm down for whatever. I enjoy roleplay so I'm looking for either a balance of rp and combat or a heavier focus on rp. I'm willing to use any platform for playing. As mentioned earlier, I am relatively new to D&D but I have a good grasp on the rules. I'm just hoping for a better experience than what I had before. Biggest thing is keeping heated political debates out of the middle of the campaign.

I just started paying again after 20 years. I have joined two paid campaigns and I will say that a campaign where you pay the DM is a good experience. They work hard for you to have a good time. The DMs I have played with in these campaigns were very willing to teach. On average the costs seem to be $15 per session. Which really is less than if you went to a movie. If you want a fun experience I'd look for a paid campaign; at least at first.
