Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online. I will be making a campaign note here on DnD beyond so everyone can create their characters using all of the books I have purchased. We will use discord for voice and Roll 20 for visuals and gameplay. Experience: I have been DM'ing TTRPGs since I was 18 and have experience with Call of Cthulhu, World of Darkness, Fantasy Age, Fantasy Flights Star Wars Trilogy, and 5e. Location/Timezone: EST Schedule: Thursdays from 6 pm to 9 pm EST Roles sought: Players. 4-5. Experience can be of any level even None. Love introducing new people to the game. Would appreciate players relatively close to my age (31). Most likely will not accept players under 20. Game style:
Attached is a link to my Google Drive House Rules.
Players will be able to make characters of any race or class as long as all material is approved on DnD beyond. No Unearthed Arcana and no homebrew I haven't approved. The game should be 2-3 sessions including session 0 where we will make characters together and get to know one another for a bit before playing.
Below is going to be the opening sequence for the campaign so you can see the feel of what you will be getting into...
A noon-day sun proceeds to great you as the wagon caravan you all are accompanying exits the forest and enters a small clearing. This change of scenery signifies the end of a ten day stent as caravan guards. The wagons move as smoothly as possible on a well-used dirt road that runs alongside a wide and fast-moving river. The water moves south and carries along with it the occasional piece of bark or stick earnings it the name, The Splinter River.
Ahead of you at the literal end of the road you see a couple dozen buildings divided between both sides of the river. The buildings are constructed in a log cabin style and appear very well maintained despite the remoteness of this town. All in all, you could not imagine more than a hundred or so people live here.
The Caravan Master grins, “Welcome to Holzegna! Provider of raw lumber for as close as Fort Vigilance and as far as the Oak Island Port.” He pushes the caravan onward as this run, you have learned, is his lifeblood. He brings the food, supplies, luxuries, and such north to Holzegna which allows him to earn a profit that he uses to purchase raw lumber and magnificent wooden goods which he then transports back south to sell for even more profit and then repeat the cycle. That is what Holzegna is known for, and the only real reason traders would come this far north, a near continuous export of raw lumber and wood carved goods from furniture to decorations.
A small guard post stands alongside the road and from out of it emerges a young man in armored leathers holding a crossbow, un-cocked and with no bolt. Upon seeing you and the caravan he smiles and waves as he returns to the guard post to ring a small bell. The chime of the bell echoes throughout the clearing which causes people to emerge from homes and buildings like ants from an anthill.
The people look about curious for a moment, but as the reason for the bell becomes apparent the caravan is greeted with smiles and waves. As the caravan reaches the end of the line you see that the road does not truly end but instead circles around a town message board as well as well as a large building named Dead End Trade Outpost and a smaller building with an attached fenced area where a few horses and donkeys graze and wander named The Ugly Horse Stable and Wagon Repair.
Another, larger, bell begins to chime at a building along the river and you watch as a water wheel begins to slow to a stop and from out of it emerges calloused workers covered in sawdust and the sweat of a morning’s work. The caravan comes to a halt as workers from the trade outpost and the caravan begin to unload the supplies. The caravan master quickly hands each of you a small leather purse that jingles with metallic coins and thanks for your service.
The money is barely tucked safely away before the grateful townspeople descend upon you. Although the ten-day was uneventful with nary a bandit or monster in sight the people of Holzegna regard you all as conquering heroes for ensuring the safe delivery of the supplies and assure you that as soon as the supplies are offloaded and stored away within the trade outpost that the rest of the caravan will be joining in on the festivities. As the townspeople joyfully usher you towards a building labeled the Drunk Dryad, featuring a sign with the depiction of an elven woman dressed scantily in leaves sleeping beneath a tree, they explain that the days that supplies come in from the south are seen as unofficial holidays.
No more work will be done today and instead there will be celebration that they have continued to thrive in this remote wilderness and after your ten day on the trail you are encouraged to join. A minstrel begins to run his bow along the strings of his fiddle as townspeople clap and bang mugs with the tune, food and drinks are passed around in equal measures, and people begin to enjoy the day of festivities in ways from dancing to tavern games to the exchange of rumors and gossip.
