Last minute free to play opportunity. Content is PG-13. No explicit sexual content will be permitted.
I committed to running a level 1-20 campaign and 3 of my prospective players dropped out last minute.
I am looking for people who will commit to play at GMT+2 1900 every other Sunday.
The plan is to start tomorrow. I have 3 spots.
Details about the world are, post apoc home brew, start at level 1play to level 20. In my estimation takes about 1 year. Give or take a holiday or personal disaster.
Please respond here with questions or if you are interested.
Obviously D&D beyond is required. We will do tomorrow on roll20, then switch to Astral for the next session for the tabletop, because I am porting over. Discord voice and die rolls, video totally optional.
Darcampia Synopsis
Like any major catastrophe, the event cannot be blamed on one single event, but a chain of events that line up in just the right fashion to set off an unrecoverable chain reaction.
The world known as Darcampia has come to know how unrecoverable it can be. As kingdoms became more prosperous and grew, the need for resources increased. Kingdoms, then entire civilizations began to war with each other to control or exploit these resources. The wars waged on for a generation, destroying cities, towns, and precious farmland. As the need for necessities increased, people looked to the centers of magical learning and the churches of divine magic. These organizations did not have the power to provide what was needed in the quantities it was, and the masses turned on them.
Mobs of uneducated people and men at arms first turned on the arcane casters, declaring them a drain on desperately needed resources and a plague of the common folk. The centers of magical learning were attacked, and though putting up a powerful and spirited defense, magic drains the stamina of those casting it, and they must rest. The angry mob is not restricted in such a way and the towers and libraries of arcane magics were looted and burned. Their numbers either died defending these centers or were ruthlessly hunted in their flight. Arcane magic is almost unheard of today; deeply mistrusted and ferociously blamed and attacked.
After the destruction and looting of the arcane, the masses then turned on the churches, declaring their gods false and accusing the clergy of deceiving and exploiting people with false promises of the afterlife. Churches were looted and burned, the high level leaders were executed for their “crimes,” and only a few who remained devote fled, forming small colonies in the wilderness.
Shortly after the loss of the priest/priestesses divine healing and wisdom, the public health situation deteriorated and plagues beset the cities and towns. The healthy fled to the wilderness for their lives, many were left to die.
Those that fled avoided congregating in large groups for fear of disease, but many turned to the other non-human races for help. Many of these races were unable to help as a series of major natural disasters strained the resources of even the ancient elves and mighty dwarven nations. Ultimately, resources became so scarce, even their cities, which had stood for ages of men untold had to be abandoned.
For 2 generations, the sickness and natural calamities persisted. Small groups engaged in a daily life or death struggle for basic needs like food, shelter, and the weapons and tools they needed to not become feral. Burglary and other forms of non-violent crime quickly gave rise to violence. Bandits, Pirates, and even slavers began to roam the land. Evil species of demi-humans began to go unchecked and preyed on the weakened races of humans, elves, dwarves, and others like circling vultures.
Then came the final blow…Having abandoned the gods and unable to find eternal rest, victims who were abandoned in plague cities, settlements, and ships began to walk the realm in undeath, seeking to destroy any form of life they come across, further swelling their ranks.
Now cometh the hour, and cometh the desperate need for the one(s) who will turn the tide of this enduring apocalypse. But solving the problems of the realm is far easier said than done, when finding food and safe shelter occupies every waking hour.
Welcome to Darcampia
You may play any class or race in the official published material on D&D Beyond Sourcebooks or modules. Though your selection will have profound consequences on social interactions among the various populations you meet.
You may have all the equipment you are granted as your starting gold or background permits you to purchase, with the exception of rations, of which you may not have more than 3 days’ worth.
Should you choose to have an animal companion, remember to consider that food in the world is very scarce and hungry eyes may constantly look upon it.
Do not expect to find things like towns or shops. Things like that are quest reward level treasure.
Working together as a team is highly advised. Sleeping a lone is a good way to be eaten by a wandering ghoul, a hungry cannibal, or even just a natural beast. Friendly faces will be few and far between, without considerable public relations effort.
Make yourself familiar with the exhaustion table and its rules.
Don’t think you are above eating a dead goblin for dinner…It may be the only thing on the menu…
