This may seem unusual, and apologies if I did not put this in the right place (please direct me where if so)
Game: D&D 5e - Dragon of Icespire Peak Adventure Group preferred: Online (Discord, Roll20, etc - mic expected, cam a plus) Experience: New, and reading what I can. Location/Timezone: EST Availability: evenings after 830pm Preferred role: Player Game style: See below
I'm a new player and I am looking for an experienced DM who is willing to DM and ideally also play along with me and a sidekick the first few Icespire Peak scenes (no more than 2 hours per session, total # of sessions up to you and your availability but looking for a minimum of one completed encounter), while OOC helping with questions/tips and tricks for duet/solo play (such as scaling combat). I have a couple of options for DM playing (DM Yourself, Mythic GME, open to whatever you think is best). As far as content goes, I would like to play official adventures, as I would like to take advantage of the other parts of the campaign... but TBH I don't know where to start.
I am looking to do this because I don't have many opportunities to play organized campaigns at the moment, but I am hoping to bring some family members and friends on board and I would most likely be playing in a duet/party of 3.
I recognize there are lots and lots of resources online for this, and I am continuing to use those, but nothing beats actual play and I am hoping to find someone willing to be paid to play with me.
About me: Older guy who is a good listener and likes to roll dice in his games. Considered friendly and outgoing.
I prefer a DM who is experienced showing others how to play, and is willing to explain concepts in detail as if they were teaching a future DM.
I do have some other starter content besides Icespire, so if another option is best, we can talk about it (but I prefer Icespire so I can continue the campaign).
I have some tiles/tokens/figures and a little experience with Roll20 (I am not crazy about it but I'm sticking with it). Happy to explore Theater of the Mind, but I am going to eventually be playing with people who prefer minis/maps so I hope we can do that as well.
I have a Fighter set up, ready to go. I also have the source books.
Not a clock watcher, understand and respect your time and its worth, and willing to invest in other tools that would make this experience go smoothly (especially ones that I can carry over to future sessions with my family)
I have zero tolerance for racism, sexism, etc etc. Repeated for emphasis - I have zero tolerance for racism, sexism, etc etc.
About you: Absolutely non-negotiable - Please be experienced, open minded, easy going and patient. Have zero tolerance for racism, sexism, etc.
I'm going to ask questions and if that bothers you, this isn't the gig for you (this seems weird to say but I've seen enough anecdotal evidence of DMs with little patience for interruption/meta/OOC questions and discussion). I like humor (a LOT, think Dungeons and Daddies podcast), you should be OK with this as well, being a somewhat casual setting.
You would ideally want to play also, but understand if you prefer to focus on DM. I'm looking to keep the adventure close to how its written, however, so it may be "vanilla" in terms of how it first goes...
Reliable - when we settle on a time to meet, payment arrangement, and length of engagement, please keep to your commitment - I will keep to mine. I have only a set time during evenings I can play (please see after 830 pm on evenings, for no more than 2 hours per session) and this cannot be negotiated on my end so if the time doesn't work for you, please consider another game. I prefer to pay via Apple Pay, PayPal, or Zelle, but can work with other providers if necessary.
Thanks! Looking forward to talking with you. I can be best reached on Discord at SpartanTrifekta#2962.
Hi there, I might be able to do this with you. Give my post history a peek and you can get a sense of my style, and see a few game listings I've shared in the not too distant past.
FYI - I love the idea of taking the "teaching a future DM" approach and have done it before.
