We will build a world together.

No established lore controlled by mega-corps. Pure, raw, worldbuilding. Following Collaborative Worldbuilding for Writers and Gamers Book by Trent Hergenrader, we will combine our creative powers to make something intensely unique. Trent Hergenrader PhD, is an Associate Professor of English specializing in Creative Writing at the Rochester Institute of Technology.

This 90 minute course will provide you with a framework in worldbuilding, using examples from popular fiction. This is not a course where you will passively listen to a powerpoint presentation. Once the framework is explained, you take over and apply those lessons to create a world together. Your creativity and input are an integral and necessary part of this course!

We will incorporate each other's ideas to build a world together, each person bringing their own interpretation and creativity to the table. We will draft a meta description of our world to provide the groundwork for more specific worldbuilding and act as inspiration for an infinite number of stories. At the end of our session, you will be able to analyze fictional worlds, create worlds of any genre, and work with others to incorporate diverse viewpoints into a coherent world. Lessons learned don't just apply to collaborative worldbuilding, but allow you to create a coherent worlds with obvious connections for multiple stories to be crafted.

No camera needed, I'll just be capturing the group's audio and my screen.

This is a one-time 90 minute session. Each session will run through the same content but have different worldbuilding prompts. Please give other people a chance to before signing up for both sessions.

I will also be developing a longer 4-week course using the lessons learned here. These will be much more in depth with more opportunity for individual creativity. Being a positive influence for these sessions will put you at the head of the line for the longer course.
