Have you always wanted to play 5e but don't quite know where to start? Watched Critical Role and thought, “that seems so cool?” Done a couple of sessions but don't have a regular group? Or are you a veteran of AD&D who still plays four nights a week? Whoever you are, I'd love to DM for you. I'm looking for a group of 5 awesome people to go through Curse of Strahd. I've been running games for over a decade now, and love a good mix of RP, combat, and mystery-solving. Please be comfortable with RP—CoS doesn’t work without engaged, active roleplayers. I plan to run a pretty serious Curse of Strahd, but moments of levity are essential too.
Who am I?:I'm KingDracon, 27, male, from the west coast of the US, and in law school. I started DMing in high school.
What will I be running?:Curse of Strahd—a gothic horror module that I absolutely love. I've run it before and it was an awesome experience. I no longer have the time for homebrew, but the module won't be run straight out of the book, either.
How will we play?: We'll be on Roll20, with voice chat via Discord (or via Roll20, if it works).
When will we play?: Saturday or Sunday, likely evenings (PST), once a week for three hours. Planning on 1 group but we'll see what the interest looks like.
Who am I looking for?:Anyone nice, really! I love running games for everyone. Just please be inclusive, polite, and comfortable with RP in English! I run LGBTQ+/women/POC-friendly tables, so please be aware of that. Beginners are welcome. No undead/liches, please.
What are the requirements?: Please don’t have played/watched/read/listened to/thought about/lived through Curse of Strahd before.
I want to play!: Great! Send me a PM answering The Questions Below, and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.
The Questions Below:
Preferred name and pronouns:
Age:
D&D experience:
Day/time preference:
What are you looking for in a game?:
RP/Combat/Exploration preference:
Character idea (race/class) & short backstory (anything official is fine):
D&D experience: I’ve been playing for about 3 years, and DMing my own campaign for about 2 now
Day/time preference: Saturday afternoons/evenings after 2pm MST (1pm PST) would be the best bet for me. (I’m busy sundays) However, I do sometimes work Saturday evenings, so there are times where I may not be able to attend because of work.
What are you looking for in a game?: I love rp, so definitely some good rp opportunities between PCs and also with NPCs, which can also be great for character development~ As well, a fun accepting group to play with as I’m queer af.
RP/Combat/Exploration preference: RP is defs at the top for me, but I do also love combat and exploration~
Character idea (race/class) & short backstory (anything official is fine): Honestly I don’t have a specific character in mind rn, most of the time that’s something I build based on the setting and depending on group balance. I’m happy to do some brainstorming tho!
Favorite animal: Dogs are so v loveable, but I also like deer
Something interesting about you: I’m from Canada and used to cosplay before cons went on pandemic hiatus, including Mollymauk from Critical Role
Preferred Name and Pronouns: Soft, Softly, In-game character name, and He/Him.
Age: 21
D&D Experience: I have been playing AD&D 2nd Edition using the Dragonlance campaign for 12 years. I have also played games such as Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate 2, and Icewind Dale which take place in the Forgotten Realms campaign setting.
Day/Time Preference: Anytime Saturday or Sunday.
What Are You Looking for in a Game?: Decent amount of roleplay and combat. Too much roleplaying can get bland, however too much combat can also get bland. I feel like a healthy balance of the two is nice, so let's say around 65% roleplay and 35% combat. Some level of seriousness, like not wasting a combat action to hug an enemy or something. Comedy is always a nice thing have and always something I try to bring to the table, but not when it negatively impacts the campaign.
RP/Combat/Exploration Preference: Roleplaying out of combat, and not roleplaying while in combat is my preference (unless it's something you're adding to something your character has already done or going to do). Exploration is top of the list for me, I enjoy roleplaying, but puzzles, mystery solving, etc. are what I look for in a campaign mostly. I feel Ravenloft is the perfect campaign setting to fill that just due to the nature of the world.
Character Idea (Race/Class) & Short Backstory: From a roleplaying perspective, I think a Paladin would be enjoyable to play as they fit in to the "smite all evil" kind of mind set that would fit Ravenloft. Another option would be a Cleric for similar reasons. Over the years I have played a diverse group of characters and am capable of filling multiple roles with no issues, so I can always just be a fill player. As for backstory? That will be character specific, and I'd have to write something that fits for Ravenloft. I like the idea of having a character from a different campaign setting and having them either die and come here, or kill themselves on purpose to come to Ravenloft. One idea I had was a character has his son taken from him and he kills himself so that he can go to Ravenloft and hunt his son down, which would be a backstory for a Fighter or Rogue if I played one.
Favorite Animal: Probably a wolf, I have family in the east coast of Canada and see them quite often. They are quite a beautiful creature as long as they keep their distance.
Something Interesting About You: I'm a musician and and a programmer.
Preferred name and pronouns:You can call me JaRon and my pronouns are He/Him
Age:23
D&D experience: I started playing dnd around the start of the pandemic so not long compared to some lol.
Day/time preference: Anytime is fine
What are you looking for in a game?:Something fun and Unique every DM style is different and I just look forward to experiencing the ride.
RP/Combat/Exploration preference:RP/Exploration are what I prefer to but Exploration isn't well thought out in most module so the few that have it been very enjoyable.
Character idea (race/class) & short backstory (anything official is fine):The idea I had for my character is a Human or male Twilight cleric who has been shadow touched by dangers of the shadowfell. During his time fighting the evil that resides there. When he thought he was free from that realm and returning him he was sent to the land of Ravenloft to be his play thing. This is just a short little idea I had for a character.
Favorite animal: Lions
Something interesting about you: Currently a bouncer so I meet a lot of interesting people and got great stories about drunk ppl leaving my job.
D&D experience: did half a campaign IRL with some friends but due to covid it fell apart
Day/time preference: I'm GMT +1 so due to you being west coast i believe Saturday would fit me best.
What are you looking for in a game?: I want to have a fun time and explore my roleplaying side, and actually complete a campaign
RP/Combat/Exploration preference: I'd love to do a bit of all, alto what i am most comfortable with is Combat and Exploration, and i want to be more comfortable with RP
Character idea (race/class) & short backstory (anything official is fine): I've started playing a Human Ranger/Rogue and i was sad to not complete the campaing with it. so i'd either like to rehash that character or i've always wanted to play either a monk or a wizard. Back story wise the Hunter was from a village attacked by wolves where he got saved by his parents and took the lessons he learned from his parents to survive alone in the woords
Favorite animal: Probably dogs
Something interesting about you: don't really know if i am that interesting of a person, I work at a software helpdesk, and other then that i kinda reside behind my computer. Would love to be on this adventure!
D&D experience: New! I've only done a couple sessions of a homebrew campaign but i've queuing up for a couple different campaigns as well
Day/time preference: any time should work! I have sessions on saturday, sunday, and Thursday , so those are unavailable for me
What are you looking for in a game?: I'm still rlly new but i'm up for anything at this point! I would prefer to be able to have creative solutions to situations
RP/Combat/Exploration preference: Honestly, I love all of it so far.
Character idea (race/class) & short backstory (anything official is fine): My idea that i've been developing for a while is a Satyr Shadow Sorcerer that had some recent incidents of being given her powers through kidnapping and sacrifice! However, no matter what she won't let that get her down and continues to perform for the people, but ofc she intends to use her newfound abilities for adventure!
Favorite animal: Capybara
Something interesting about you: I've been playing video games since I was like 8! Some of my favorites are FFXIV, DOS2, Fable, and Mass Effect.
D&D experience: I have been playing off and on for 38 years.
Day/time preference: I can play on Sunday afternoons and evenings. My Saturday is already booked with an in person game.
What are you looking for in a game?: I'm looking for fun with a mixture of roleplay, combat, and the environment. Seeing if I can make a character that will work well with other party members.
RP/Combat/Exploration preference: I like an even mixture of all three. RP with the party and npc's, Combat that takes you to the edge, Exploration of the environment.
Character idea (race/class) & short backstory (anything official is fine): I've been looking through the races/classes and I have thought of a Shifter Beast Barbarian Tank/Damage. The backstory I thought of was a group of tribal members have gone missing and the tribal Shaman has sent me to track them down in the Cursed Woods on the out skirts of our territory.
Favorite animal: My favorite animal is a Wolf.
Something interesting about you: I've played AD&D, 2nd, 3rd, 3.5, 4th, and now 5th Editions. My favorite character of the past was a Ranger Dual Wielder with Diamond Long Swords in 2nd Edition. I've played lots of video games from Pong to WoW. I have played Curse of Strahd in 2nd Edition, but, I have not played it in 5th Edition. Would like to see how it has changed from the past.
Preferred name and pronouns: insert character name, he/him, nod also works as a quick way to get my attention
Age: 17
D&D experience: played 1st E for 1 year played 5e for 3 and dmed 5e for 1 year
Day/time preference: sundays anytime ( i can also do monday and tuesday in the after noons past 3pm(pst))
What are you looking for in a game?: really just to actually play curse of strahd ( i played it before but the dm was actively trying to kill the party its been 2 years since then so i think im safe to be considered not playing the module
RP/Combat/Exploration preference: a good mix of the 3
Character idea (race/class) & short backstory (anything official is fine): haftling rouge whos scared of being poor but has a knack for magic (arcane trickster planned subclass)
Favorite animal: Crow/Raven
Something interesting about you:im a chaotic person so rouges and druids make a good fit for me (also if i cant afford it i will try to steal it) im a Dm myself
i prefer to be called rune he/him 27 years old not much experience any day after 8:00 CST I want creepy game play any type of preference i want to pm you directly for my character idea reptiles are my favorite
DnD Exp.- I was apart of a campaign in middle school, so I don't remember much. I want to get back into it though!
Day/Time Pref.- Tues-fri, past 3 pm
What am I looking for in a game- Mostly just a fun roleplay with some adventure! I don't really care what kind as long as it's well executed
RP/Combat/Exploration- A healthy combination sounds good to me! Exploration and RP are preferred but It's no fun without combat added in!
Character Idea- Aasimar Rogue Bard (It's the only character I've made on here so far, but if needed I can make a different character type!) Backstory- My Character is an Entertainer from a small village living close to the forest. They learned to work with Leather so they could fix their leather armour on their own, and eventually became well known around the village for being Fair and Kind. They're good with animals, and spent a lot of time in the forest learning about the Fey, and the ways of nature. Eventually they decided to set out on their own, as they felt a calling to protect the land, and those that are rendered weak by oppressing forces.
Favorite Animal- Wolf but I also like Foxes ^^
Something Interesting about me- Mental Health is my passion.
Sounds intriguing. I've never played that module but played a Ravenloft gothic horror module once that was great fun. A weekly Sat or Sun evening game would work nicely.
I'm a veteran player/GM. FYI - below is my player LFG listing which answers most of your questions. I'm a straight He, have several gay friends, open to playing with any good creative people.
As for something interesting, I am a blue/swing dance instructor (all inactive during the pandemic), and do historic home restoration and carpentry. I worked in Cali on the Galileo spacecraft and founded a venture capital backed online game company. Played a lot of competitive frisbee and volleyball and won three world championship titles. :P
Thank you
Game: Play in D&D. (Campaign preferred, weekly preferred), open 3.5 to 5e, homebrew Group preferred: Online, 18+ Platform / tech: Open. Using Beyond, D20 and Discord currently. Have 1080p webcam/mic, good internet connection, and cell phone. Experience: veteran player and GM Location/Timezone: Houston, CST Availability: Flex schedule, evening /late. Preferred role: Looking to play! Any level. Looking for a campaign, but open to shorter series. Game style: Games should be fun, social storytelling experiences! To me, that means a good storyline like a book or movie (but of course player-driven rather than fixed) and a world with depth, or a wide-open world simulation-style where players have to explore to make their own paths and purpose. While I play board games and can play hardcore tactics and min/max, I prefer campaigns with fast combat and character interaction (firefly), problem-solving (Burn Notice, Indiana Jones, Conan the B), moral dilemmas (SG-1, should we stick our nose into this culture? Again? It went so well last time....). I prefer tight team play and dislike party conflict. Parties with goals to save the world, or protect the innocent are most common. That doesn't mean stuffed shirts though! Every good adventure story needs a rogue type! Still, I am not looking to play with evil characters, and typically gravitate towards C.G. characters though occasionally play a neutral with good tendencies.

veteran player/GM - CST evening / very late - Beyond, D20 and Discord. 1080p webcam/mic Games should be fun, social collaborative storytelling experiences! A good storyline like a book or movie (but of course player-driven rather than rails) and a world with depth (LOTR, Forgotten Realms). Fast combat (fog of war) and great character interaction (firefly), problem-solving (Burn Notice, Indiana Jones, Conan the B), moral dilemmas (SG-1, Star Trek). I prefer tight teamwork and dislike party conflict.
Day/time preference: I'd do 1pm or 3pm on Saturday and Sunday UTC-5
What are you looking for in a game?: roleplay and just the adventure and fun in it
RP/Combat/Exploration preference: RP and combat sound fun
Character idea (race/class) & short backstory (anything official is fine): Rogue/ lightfoot halfling would be nice... was once in a good family but then things turned south as family was starting to get poor and had to move out. The halfling would steal in survival and learned a few tricks here and there on what to do and how to talk to people.
Favorite animal: fox
Something interesting about you: I like to draw (Even though I ain't great at it LOL)
I'm also wanting to play with a friend, he too would love to play :)
What are you looking for in a game?: recreational roleplay
RP/Combat/Exploration preference:RP and Exploration are good, combat also works
Character idea (race/class) & short backstory (anything official is fine): presently have a level 2 variant Variant Aasimar Paladin Monk. Haunted ex-soldier
Blake, name of whatever character I play, or discord name. My pronouns are he/him.
Age:
About a dime away from 22, though some people seem convinced I'm older.
D&D experience:
My longest game was a year in a full homebrew world, where I played an extroverted and empathetic blood hunter, aligned neutral good, who achieved level 15 when the campaign abruptly stopped. Beyond that, I have played a paladin to level 6, a ranger to level 4, a bard to level 8, and a one shot wardin (hex blade warlock/conquest palidin) at level 16. I might have an ongoing campaign as a cleric, however seeing as it was paused from a player leaving due to scheduling, it seems like my schedule will be open for an indefinite time.
Day/time preference:
Any day will work for now. I am working on getting a job at the moment, hopefully a factory based job at a 9-5 basis. Anything later than 6pm EST will work for me, so long as the sessions end by 12am EST.
What are you looking for in a game?:
Character development and interparty relations is a must, whether it be close knit friendships or rivalries. Other than that, puzzles and combat is enjoyable, and I have very few limits as what is not acceptable.
RP/Combat/Exploration preference:
RP is the leading ideal here, followed by exploration and combat in equal mixes.
Character idea (race/class) & short backstory (anything official is fine):
Ideas for characters are plentiful, many with thorough backstories with plenty of developmental opportunities and loose ends to tie later. I will play any class, any race. Be forewarned, one of my hobbies when creating characters includes mold-breaking. I will make an edgy looking character on paper, and make them the most sociable goof you've ever seen. I have a few concrete ideas, though a couple of them I would prefer to keep private to make things interesting. Mostly though, I will just fill in any gap the party has should there be one.
Favorite animal:
Tough one. Is it a red fox, or a timber wolf? I can't come to a conclusion here. Wolves are so majestic, but those foxes are just so damn adorable.
Something interesting about you:
I'm a goofball, and very easygoing. I hold a plentiful well of random facts and trivia, that may or may not come in handy.
I hope I hear back from you. Curse of Strahd is one of two modules I want to play through before ever touching the book to dm. I have puchased the digital book on dndbeyond, but only for access to subclasses, items, monsters, and et cetera.
D&D experience: 2 years of actual play with around 5 years of watching experience.
Day/time preference: 4:00 pm PST until 8:00 pm PST
What are you looking for in a game?: I love heavy roleplay and character development interspersed with fighting and horror.
RP/Combat/Exploration preference: I prefer RP and Exploration, but also love combat
Character idea (race/class) & short backstory (anything official is fine): I was thinking of a hexblood tiefling who traveled with The Carnival as an entertainer. They would either be a bard, rogue, or ranger. I do have a short backstory, but I love to flesh out those with the DM and other players to create connections to the world itself.
Favorite animal: Personally my favorite animal is probably a black leopard or an axolotl
Something interesting about you: I have broken over 23 bones, and I have 3 cats.
Have always wanted to play in a Curse of Strahd Campaign but have never gotten the opportunity and have avoided all spoilers so that when I play I would be enjoying it from the beginning.
Preferred name and pronouns: She
Age: 31
D&D experience: Just over 2 years
Day/time preference: Most evenings but I do have some prior engagements on certain days.
What are you looking for in a game?: I am looking for a long term game with a great bunch of people.
RP/Combat/Exploration preference: I am a person who likes a mix of them all with no preference to any
Character idea (race/class) & short backstory (anything official is fine): I am open to play any class or role as needed but there are a few class combinations I would love to try out. I would be willing to work with the others of the group to find out what would fit into the group play. I have played classes from cleric, sorcerer and a bit of warlock so I do have knowledge of caster classes but wouldn't mind playing a martial class.
Favorite animal: Panda
Something interesting about you: I am a single mom who is getting my daughter interested in dnd so maybe I can play with her when she is older.
D&D experience: 3 years of weekly games with the same crew in 5e. I've also Dmed for the first time 2 months ago.
Day/time preference: anything past 6pm PST on saturdays and anything past 3pm PST on sundays works for me. I can also easily do eveings on the weekdays if that works.
What are you looking for in a game?: A committed group of people that are fun but intense about the game being played. I greatly enjoy RP and working together as a team to solve puzzles and fights. I generally try to come into new games with few expectations so I can roll with whatever you throw at us.
RP/Combat/Exploration preference: I love all of these, every character I make has a different accent that I try to stay with for the entire game. I also love cracking skulls but it doesn't have to be every session, then you start expecting a fight and it loses some of its luster. Basically, anything that gets us thinking and working together I'm down for. If i had to be pressed I would go combat/rp/exploration, but I'd like for it to be as evenly spread out as possible.
Character idea (race/class) & short backstory (anything official is fine): My character would be a barbarian woolly loxodon named Maximillian Stonesides. Maximillian grew up in collections of remote villages in the far north. His last name comes from the strength and durability of his clan is well known for as well for their craftmanship in stone masonry. From modest but not ignorant beginnings, he not only learned how to craft beautiful structures, but also to fight and defend the ones he loves. He was taught how to fight by the best of his clan, however he lost nearly everyone he loved to an unknown monster that had been terrorizing his and other clan's villages. While naturally skilled, he wasn't even close to a match to the creature and put him down with little effort. After he healed up, he was sent by his and the other clans to the outside world in order to become stronger and to find out what exactly is attacking his people.
Favorite animal: Jaguars have been my favorite since 2nd grade, they are majestic and badass at the same time.
Something interesting about you: I'm an animal behaviorist, i've been to Kenya for a year studying hyenas and Uganda for 7 weeks studying chimpanzees. You wanna know something about an animal, 9 times out of 10 I can tell you something about it you didn't know about it/

Preferred Name/Pronouns- Ashe (Any Pronouns)
Age- 18
Hey Kingdracon,
Sounds intriguing.
(Campaign preferred, weekly preferred), open 3.5 to 5e, homebrew
Group preferred: Online, 18+
Platform / tech: Open. Using Beyond, D20 and Discord currently. Have 1080p webcam/mic, good internet connection, and cell phone.
Experience: veteran player and GM
Location/Timezone: Houston, CST
Availability: Flex schedule, evening /late.
1080p webcam/mic
Games should be fun, social collaborative storytelling experiences!
Preferred name and pronouns: Chippy She/her
Age: 17
D&D experience: none hehe
Age: 54
D&D experience: A few years
Day/time preference: flexible
What are you looking for in a game?: recreational roleplay
RP/Combat/Exploration preference:RP and Exploration are good, combat also works
Character idea (race/class) & short backstory (anything official is fine): presently have a level 2 variant Variant Aasimar Paladin Monk. Haunted ex-soldier
Favorite animal: cat
Something interesting about you: ballet student
Preferred name and pronouns:
Preferred name and pronouns: Em and She/They
Age: 18
Preferred name and pronouns: Jack (he/him)
Age: 26
