TIMEZONE OF THIS CAMPAIGN: GMT+2
Hello!
My name is Andrew and this is my first campaign. I got the starter kit, read up on D&D and watched a lot of Critical Role (maybe just like you) and decided I want to run the Lost Mine of Phandelver as a DM.
Here are some conditions I set forth to anyone who wishes to join me on this adventure.
I am Looking for beginner players who never played D&D before (or only played 1-2 one-shots or 1-2 sessions).
I will accept physical die rolling if it is agreed by all participants as I want to keep the experience as close to real as possible.
I will control (digitally) all tokens on Roll20 but you tell me where your character is going and what he or she is doing. Roll20 will only be used for encounter visualization.
I will ask you to manage your character sheet and add your bonuses on your own. If you forgot to add your proficiency bonus or your dexterity modifier and you missed that hit well... we are here to learn! You can manage calculations however you want to but I want to avoid automating it too much. It's okay to use DnD character sheet or any other digital format of your choice.
I will only accept "basic rules" character options. No homebrew content this time around.
I am not a native English speaker and I don't expect you to be one either. Please keep that in mind.
I am happy to hear your custom backstory and think of ways to loop you in with a plothook. There is a standard "starting quest" and I can provide you pre-defined character sheets if you wish.
If you are okay with all this I kindly ask you to submit your request to join this wonderful game by sending me your...
Age
D&D experience (Have you played before? Did you read the basic rules? Do you have the Player's Handbook?)
Motivation to join (2-3 sentences)
I wish to do "-1 sessions" with whomever I pick from the list to talk about character options and - if you are totally new to D&D - help you with the basics. I am looking for 3-4 players.
Thank you very much for reading all this! Just as a reminder: the sessions will take place on every Thursday from 19:00 CET (Berlin) GMT+2.
Hello ThijsM, the time-zone would be CET (GMT+2) @ 7 PM on every Thursday (sessions will probably last ~3 hours).
The flavor? Well... I would like to run it "by the book" (this campaign is a published adventure by D&D) so there will be narrative to describe the areas, I'd try to "trigger players" to RP as much as they like and I would (talking to each players beforehand) try to sew their background stories into the adventure. There are many NCP encounters throughout the campaign. The players will have to interact with these NPCs. Some are friendly but there would be NPCs that would either give the adventurers a quest or some pain depending on how the players act in the situation. So player decisions would ultimately change the course of the game...
I'd only use maps on Roll20 when it's necessary = I would use them for encounters (perhaps not all encounters) but it won't be like you control your tokens around and click on objects to get handouts and use macros to do whatever...
I would love to join your campaign if possible. I'm 20 and haven't played DnD yet, but I have read the rules and started testing things with characters out to get a grip. I do not have a copy of the player's handbook though.
I saw in the reply that your timezone is GMT+2. I'm in that same timezone, and it really would be nice to have a session in a normal time for me :D (Even if I do love to make exceptions). And I like that it's rp heavy too, I'm more confident in it.
Hello! Sounds great! You don't have to own the players' handbook - you will be totally fine with the basic rules! My discord is Wyrmwind#2428 -> add me and let's have a chat to see if we have a match. I would have a couple of questions in private.
Hey! That sounds very interesting although I don't have the book. I'd say let's have a short discussion about how it would work out for all of us. I plan on bringing mainly new players to the game who do not have any experience. I find artificer would be an "advanced" option and the other players may not have access to information -> this may move the game in very exciting directions!
I'm JL and I'm 23. I've never played a single campaign of D&D in my life. I live in Helsinki and I like to play supportive classes in whatever RPGs I end up playing. Cleric, Druid, Paladin and Bard all seem awesome, but I also like playing the big strong guy of the party. My Discord is Troxic#0594
Hi! My name is Adam and I am 19 years old. My only experience actually playing DnD was drawing up a few dungeons and having some friends fight through them, but they were all very small and it was mostly so I could help myself learn the mechanics. I'd love to play in this group since it sounds like it's a good place to learn. I also do own the player's handbook as well as the essentials kit. I am in EST but my schedule is very flexible so it shouldn't be an issue for me as I'm a bit of a night owl anyways. If you want to add me on discord my username is AdamC14#0553
I want to play I have never played before I want real items but online is all I can afford right now I'm 35 and downloaded the pgb. I have watched some stuff on YouTube but I never played d&d before I have only played rift back in the day and one game of d&d with no game plot it was just bsing and having fun. I really don't know how to use this website to well yet as I just joined and just made my first player tonight. My email is berryhilltj1986@gmail.com if you want to get in contact with me I'm looking to play on Facebook or zoom video chat or on here if it's possible.
To everyone on here that has there discord displayed I sent you a friend request. I really want to get a normal group together. Where we all get to take turns playing and learning how to dm. Everyone will get the chance to do a small quest to set up for everyone else in the group to play so let's say we have 5 of us as of now. You would play four quest and then make one quest then play four then make one. After everyone has gone through we can do a vote on who we would like to do one . But still rotate so everyone gets to play. Or have each person out of the five people do a section of the quest. Make it super long everyone does a part 5 or 6 times. But my discord is TailBoneFace#0372 add new and we will set something up on Facebook or zoom or discord or something
Hello TailBoneFace - I would appreciate if you advertised this on the forum in a separate thread. What you described here would not fit to the campaign I would like to run. Reading what you just described here I think we wouldn't work well together. I hope you reaching out to the people I already contacted will not compromise their availability and their time to dedicate to my campaign.
Hello Adam, thank you for your interest. I would primarily consider people within the same or close to the same time-zone. A campaign could last several weeks or even months and I see big time-zone differences as a liability. EST would put you at 13:00 PM for session start and with a 3 hour long session we'd end up at 16:00 PM your time on every thursday for weeks. Do you go to school? Do you work? Those hours on thursday may not be feasible for you for long term. I will make a note about you but I would rather fill the party with similar time-zone people. Please look around on the forum as there are several EST posts :-)
My name is Angie, but I go by AJ, use she/her pronouns, I'm 18 and I'm also not a native speaker.
I played around 2 sessions and helped make/maintain everyone's character. I know the majority of the rules, have a ph of my own and a few characters as well.
My previous group got cancelled before it even started, but I really want to get a new group. I played a druid before but would love to play a cleric too. Or any class that we still need<3
Hey, if there´s still a spot open i would be very interested to join the group.
My name is Marc, I´m 21 and from Germany. I never really played Dnd but always wanted to, so i´m not that experienced, but i think i got the basic rules down.
I wanna have a stable group to learn and play Dnd with and hope to find it here.
I´m pretty open in regards to specific roles and would play what fits the group best.
I am 25 and have never played, however I have DMed one other campaign, not this book. I know the rules for the most part but have never gotten to be a player so that will be all new to me! I would love to play LMOP as the concept sounds awesome and I'd be excited to try my hand at the other side of the DM screen. Please let me know if I can be involved (I plan to run a support/utility cleric) and I can be available for a -1 session and any other questions.
Hello AJ thank you for your interest. I will reach out to you for further details. If you don't receive a PM tomorrow before 9 pm CET please send me a PM to reminde me. Thank you.

Hey @wyrmwind
Few q's, if you dont mind:
- What time(zone) will you be playing
- What would be the flavor of the campaign?
- RP heavy?
