Game: D&D 5e. We have a homebrew campaign setting. Apocalyptic fantasy horror with heavy vampire overtones.
"In a land that hasn't seen peace in centuries, the vampire hordes grow stronger as they turn more and more living sentries to their undead ranks. There is hope yet still, the very power of the gods has fallen into the reach of mortal hands, scattered across the realm."
Should be noted that we aren't necessarily looking for goodly characters, just characters that are loyal and caring to their fellow adventurers.
We try to stick to RAW, but the homebrew setting will have some homebrew rules. Also, if we all agree it would be more creative and fun to use a spell or item, etc., a certain way not necessarily allowed by RAW, it can be allowed per DM's discretion. -using shape water to freeze someone's feet in place -condensing a fireball to have smaller radius but more damage, or enlarging the radius with less damage - casting ice knife made out of holy water, dealing radiant damage - when adding spells, taking lightning bolt as psychic bolt
Grouptype: Online. Zoom for video during gametime and Discord to keep our roleplay active and information relatively organized lol.
Experience: DM has 20+ years experience, ranging from D&D 1E to 5E, Vampire: The Masquerade, recently Starfinder and among many more. I have 5 years experience as a player, mostly with 5E but a little of 3.5E and Starfinder, too. We are looking for players who have experience and know how to play the game, as well.
Location/Timezone: EST.
Schedule: Saturday. Game lasts from 6pm-10pm. We take a 5-10 minute break around 8pm. We want players who can show up each Saturday for about 6 months, maybe up to a year depending on how quick/slow we progress through the game. We are starting at 5th level and should be level 15+ by the end.
Rolessought: 1 player.
Gamestyle:
So, it's hard to pinpoint because we have different people who enjoy different aspects of the game and we have to try and accomodate everyone. Also, sometimes controversial, dark, and mature content shows up and so for this reason we want players who are 18 and older.
DM expects players to be open, honest, and active in both text and video platform. And to be transparent about what you want to happen in the game. Please be clear about your expectations and how you feel the story is developing. Do you like the new subplot the DM has introduced, or no? Do you like this NPC that's been added to your background? These are just some examples.
I enjoy character creation a lot. I could talk for hours about it. I like to make pinterest boards filled with images and quotes that remind me of them, or share songs. I like to draw my characters, too. I usually play human sorcerers :')
I also enjoy writing some RP during the weekdays on the side between PCs, and or I'll post one of their notable memories so you can get to know them further. And I'd prefer to have more combats than less.
As an aside, since we are an online group, it means that only one person can speak at a time. So, for this reason I'd really enjoy players who are willing to write small snippets between characters to help build their relationships here and there.
I have a couple vague ideas for characters, they're not very developed so there's a lot of wiggle room. And I may totally scrap these and make something else. 1. Paladin who wants many wives. I was inspired by Magnificent Century :') 2. Character whose sibling was stolen out of their bed by a shadow person or vampire. Totally inspired by Peter Pan. If it's the vampire, it gives them a personal reason to take up the quest of destroying the horde. 3. Dhampir, probably wants to become a full fledged vampire.
I also love the idea of PCs becoming lovers, or being siblings, etc. Also interested in dynamics such as but not limited to, - one character is a noble and the other is a paladin or knight who protects or serves them - one character is a patient and the other is their doctor, etc.
Our other player isn't set yet but is thinking of a monk or artificer that's painfully oblivious.
I really encourage you to ask questions now regarding what you'd like out of the game that way we can mesh better.
Is this game still open? This sounds super interesting and I'd love to play. I am not as experienced at actual play, but I've been watching/listening to DnD games for about a year and I'm currently in another campaign on Sundays. I'm also a quick learner and would be happy to accomodate to the rules and tone. I can also definitely be honest about what I want and what I like: in my current campaign my DM and I talk quite a bit about my character's backstory, how it will affect future play, and what the DM is going to do with my character. I enjoy rp/character development more than combat, but I'm happy in combat too. I like creating complex backstories and complicated characters who grow within themselves and with the party as the game progresses.
I'd be able to make the time--I'm PST time but my Saturdays are almost always free at that time.
I have a barbarian character whose tribe was destroyed by invaders and wants vengeance for the loss. I've been looking for a game to play her in, and I thought I would ask, even if you guys are full and don't need any more characters.
Either way, hope you have a good day!

As for me, I have been playing DnD 5e for about 4 years so I'd like to think I've got some experience😊
I too love character creation and RP to build relationships and personalities for characters.
