Background: Child of a Water Goddess, Kai was born in the violent storm that erupted when the Goddess learned of the sudden death of her beloved Kailon, a mortal who stumbled upon her bathing in the sea and to whom She took fancy. The Goddess entrusted the infant Kai to Her Nereid kin, unable to nurture the child in the midst of Her grief. Kai was raised in the forest (but never too far from the sea) and schooled in the healing arts, dedicating themselves to the Druidic craft.
