Hi,
To start my DnD journey I'm looking for a group who's willing to accept a noob with no experience at all. In fact, I'm searching for a way to play my very first session of DnD. Living in the small country of Belgium, my options are limited and therefor I'm forced to continue my quest online... Also, COVID still plays a big role in my personal life, so online might indeed be a good option for now as I'm not certain I can bring myself to join a live session in a closed room packed with people...
As I'm good at storytelling and used to speak for (big) groups of people I think becoming a DM is one of my long term goals. This really appeals to me and I'd love to gain as much experience in DnD as possible to accomplish that goal. For now my focus is on gaining that experience and it all starts with the first session ...
In a prefect scenario I'd like to find a group of like minded people willing to guide me in the first steps. That includes character creation. A group who allows me to ask questions about game mechanics and other "out of RP context" which might lower the pace and RP experience for the group. I wouldn't even mind to end up in a group full of low experience players and grow/discover as we go.
I must say I have experience with MMORPG games and therefor I'm kind of familiar with the context of DnD (e.g. I'm an end game D&D Neverwinter player online). I also enriched myself by watching hours and hours of DnD live sessions on YT and such. Which I enjoyed very much btw :-)
I'd love to develop a character and learn all about the game. I already have my character sheet prepared to become a Half-Orc Fighter in a tanking/protective role. (but then again, I used DnD beyond for this and I'd like to verify my creation before I actually start building it)
I also bought the Starter Set as well as the Essentials Kit and read the rule books more than once.
What's the catch? Well, .. I'm a 47 year old dude. BAM! And even though many ppl find themselves "open minded" and what not, a too big of an age difference can turn out be an issue. That is at least my experience in online gaming ... Also I have a job and other activities IRL which enable/disable me to do and plan things.
So, yeah, if you're still reading this and you feel I'm calling out to you, let me know :-) Or if you can push me in a better direction, feel free to do so!
