You should go to servers such as FGPUG it is Fantasy Grounds Pick Up Games that is how I started getting into games. My ID on Discord is Shamus5150(USA-4UTC)#6906. I will send you and invite to the server. I don't know how to do it but one night when you are on discord look to see if I am on and I will get you there ok....Also place like called warhorn.net, yawningportal are places to sign up for games. Once you start I have games Monday , Tuesday and Thursday every week but I was like you it took me like 2 months before I found good servers that had pick up games. Also the three main things they use are Fantasy Grounds, Roll20.net, Foundry-VTT so you might want to get to know those specific software's. They are pretty easy Fantasy Grounds they have a server on discord called fantasy grounds college I took the first class and you get the basics. If you have any questions look for me on Discord.
