Group type: Online via Zoom and Roll20 in game, Discord for organizing outside of the session. Experience: I've DM'd for a year and a half. Location/Timezone: EDT Schedule: Weekly on Saturday nights from 6pm-10pm with a short break around the halfway point. Roles sought: 1 reliable and experienced player who is in it for the long haul, preferable 18+. We have one kid in our group but he's proven to be mature in a previous campaign, so if that's you, we can potentially make an exception. Game style: Semi-hardcore, a lot of combat but also a good amount of roleplaying and exploration.
One thing unique about my DM style is that I welcome "rule lawyers," so long as they keep it respectful, back it up with page number references to the sourcebooks, but also let me ultimately decide whether I want to follow that rule or not. Sometimes for the sake of the general flow of the game, I go with what feels right, as I think most would agree is ideal. By doing this I'm becoming better acquainted with the official rules while also refining my personal approach to DM'ing. For this reason, I would also prefer experienced players who have at least read the PHB (player's handbook) and have played for at least a few months. Also, if you could keep suggestions/criticisms to myself, the DM, and not other players, that would also be appreciated. :)
As for creating characters, please keep it to the PHB and XGtE. Everyone is currently at level 4, so you'll start there. Party composition currently includes a Barbarian, Cleric, Wizard, Ranger and Rogue.
If you've read this far, thank you - I'd love to hear from you :) But before you reply, please take a moment to seriously ask yourself whether or not you'll be able to commit four hours a week every Saturday night for a campaign that could easily last 1-2 years. For those who aren't familiar, these specific published adventures are massive. They start at level 1 (although we're currently at level 2) and go all the way to level 20, and it's all XP based, not milestones, so it's a serious grind. Obviously it would be ideal to find a group of 4 players who will be there from start to finish, but obviously we all have lives outside of dnd and it's entirely possible that scheduling conflicts or other commitments will pop up and we might lose folks along the way. For that reason, while I currently already have 5 players, I'm seeking 1 more to bring us to 6, that way if up to 2 people drop out or are absent for any given session, the show goes on.
One last note - but this is kind of a given in any dnd game really, but the number one rule in all sessions is respect each other. Pretty simple. Any form of hatred, be it racism/sexism/homophobia/ableism/transphobia, etc, will not be tolerated. Also, no politics or religion please. We're all just here to play dnd and have fun. :)
Hello! I'm Alex and I'd be very interested in this. I've been playing 5e for nearly 2 years now and have DM experience myself.
You say PHB and XGtE? Alright, I can make something using those. I might use a Warlock unless I come up with a more of a fun plan for a character when/if you accept me.
