Group preferred: Online, but if anyone in the central Indiana area has an offline game, that's cool too. Willing to drive up to an hour, though that will reduce my availability start and end times accordingly.
Experience: 6 years
Location/Timezone: Fishers, Indiana (Us Eastern Time Zone)
Availability: Here is the time frame I would have available for a game. I typically like games to be 3 - 4 hours. I prefer a weekly or biweekly game: - Mo/Fri: 8pm - 1am - Tu: 8pm - 3am - Wed: 11pm - 3am - Saturday: 2pm - 3am - Sunday: 2pm - 1am
Preferred role: For this specific search, I'm just looking to play. I've had a bit of DM burnout since the past 3 games I've tried to start, I put a bunch of work in and then we barely get 3 sessions in before life happens and people can't make the game anymore.
Game style: I'm definitely not one of "those players" with unrealistic expectations, but honestly Critical Role is a good example of the type of game I like. Plenty of room for roleplay, plenty of time to be heroic badasses, plenty of time for jokes and comedy, but not necessarily too extreme in any one area. Looking for something more serious than beer and pretzels, but I'm also not looking for dark souls. I think this also fits into this section, so some non-negotiables as a player I have are: - I want the freedom to be able to have full access to official content + Critical Role content. I won't ask for crazy homebrew, I just want to be able to use whatever race, class, subclass, spell, etc. if it's on DnD Beyond and officially published by Wizards or Matt Mercer. - Feats, Customize Origin, and Optional Class Features fully included. Definitely will not budge on this one. - Level 3 minimum. I honestly prefer level 4 as a starting point since that's the first feat/ASI to really start differentiating your character, but as long as everyone is able to pick the subclasses they want right from the get go, I'm good. I just don't like not having a subclass and playing at levels 1 and 2 limits my class choices. Willing to join in progress campaigns at higher levels for sure. - The one homebrew rule I absolutely must have at any table is drinking a potion as a bonus action. I'm cool if we run it by the book outside of that, as that's mostly how Matt runs the game if we look purely from a rules standpoint (he does like his homebrew magic items, spells, monsters, and subclasses after all lol), and I tend to like the balance that table has of rules vs rule of cool. Again want to clarify, not expecting ANY table to function like CR's, we're not them, they are just a good example. - I prefer physically rolling dice over digital dice tools. I'll take pictures of every roll if it needs to be that extreme, and I have a webcam so everyone can see that I don't adjust the roll before taking a picture. Whatever means necessary to prove the rolls are legit, I just have to have that tactile feel of rolling dice or I'm gonna mentally check out so fast.
In addition to the sections above, I'll also provide some of the skills and benefits I would bring to the table. - First and foremost, I have a Master Tier sub and still have a content sharing slots open. I have all the base content and most of the supplemental subclass, race, and monster manual content. The only department I'm lacking in really is I don't really own much adventure content, so those adventure specific magic items and what not I would not be able to provide access to. - I would be more than happy to play DJ during the session to take some stress off of the DMs shoulders. I personally can't DM without music and it definitely helps get me immersed in a scene when I'm playing. If there isn't session music, I'll probably toss on some playlists on my computer for myself to listen to anyways, so I am more than wiling to share said playlists or simply swap between playlists the DM has created so they can focus on other things. - I'm no voice actor, but I'd say I can bring a pretty good dose of RP flavor and flair to the table with voices and mannerisms and what not. - I can be of assistance if in a group with newer players to help them understand their characters and the game better if need be. - I am willing to let the DM take a load off for a session or two and run a one shot to avoid them burning out. - Plenty of experience in Roll20, Discord, DnD Beyond, and Foundry
Here are some character concepts I've either played before or haven't gotten to play yet, but want to. Anything with a * is a character that I have a custom mini for.
- Naxtaroth* is my "main" character. Dark elf assassin rogue / gloomstalker ranger that's all about stealth and ambush with a bow. I only play him if I'm allowed goggles to negate visual sunlight sensitivity and he really works best at levels 6+ - Phillip Graives aka "Grayve"* is one I have throughly enjoyed and is probably my most detailed character. As world neutral as I can get his backstory, he is a levistus tiefling who was once a frost giant in ancient times that accidentally made a pact with Levistus to turn the tides of a battle against an army of dragons. His soul spent long enough in the hells that he was eventually reincarnated for some greater purpose as a lanky, 8 foot tall pale tiefling. He is a bard (lore) lock (hexblade/blade pact) who wields what used to be a one handed axe, but now functions as a greataxe for him as his pact weapon. The axe also doubles as his arcane guitar and he uses arcane strings to be a heavy metal bard. I am a guitarist on top of being a DnD nerd and I will most certainly find a way to play live music mid session when casting spells if that sweetens the deal. Unfortunately he really only works at like levels 8+, so he's probably more of a late game backup character. - Thassil Oph'oaba* is one that I made for a seafaring campaign that never saw the light of day. He is a purple skinned levistus tiefling that is a Fathomless Tomelock / Aberrant Mind sorcerer. And yes. Yes he is a coffeelock. But I have RP reasons for that! He physically gazed upon his patron, so now his brain refuses to shut down, his physicality altering to not need sleep, as the terrors that would come from the ensuing nightmares would cause more havoc on his body than never sleeping. I can kick this bad boi off at level 4 at the lowest since i need pact of the tome + 1 level in sorcerer. Not for tables that don't allow coffeelock shenanigans. - Nor'Kadan Tabaxi way of shadow monk. backstory malleable to whatever campaign. Uses a spear, that's about the extent of thought I've put into him so far. - Unnamed Ideas: - Wild hunt shifter beast barbarian / moon druid, would need to start at level 5 to properly function. - I really do want to try out a graviturgist wizard - Speaking of Matt content, I also would LOVE to get to properly play a blood hunter. I've only ever made high level npcs with blood hunters and haven't really gotten a feel for how the class plays overall tbh - I wouldn't mind playing a grave cleric - The new Fizban subclasses also look intriguing and I'd be down to try either one.
I look forward to finding a nice chill group of peeps to nerd out with!
