Moderately experienced DM is often up early in the US Eastern time zone and looking for some D&D :-)
I’m looking for players who might be interested in short-notice sessions in a variety of formats, usually looking to play between 7:30 AM Eastern-10:15 AM Eastern weekday and/or Saturday mornings.
I have run solo campaigns, dabbled in the “duet” structure and have run a 4-player group, in person, for the last couple of years. I’ve also played some online on a couple of different servers.
I’m over 40, mature, intelligent and laid-back with a good sense of humor and personality.
I’m not looking for rules lawyers. I try to provide a good gaming experience for my players, within the rules, but I can’t promise you that I’m knowledgeable regarding the nuances of every single class and option, nor every single spell. But basically, if it’s in the rules, I allow it and otherwise adjudicate with common sense.
I like a game that is fun and relaxed but with serious-themed content. What I mean by that is that I like for my players to get along with each other but to find that sweet spot between overly serious and overly casual. I don’t know where that is nor how to describe it, but I know it when I see it :-)
Regarding “serious-themed” content, I tend to gravitate towards situations with real stakes and challenges and not content that is more comical or farcical in and of itself. The game can be funny certainly, and funny things can happen, and I enjoy all that, but at the end of the day I like basic fantasy to be dominant.
I plan on running published modules. I’ve been toying with modifying them for smaller groups (even down to solo or 2 players) and that’s been interesting. I’m probably looking at official WoTC and DMsGuild stuff.
We’d be using AboveVTT and D&D Beyond for our game sessions and Discord for prep and communication in between sessions. AboveVTT has video/voice, so that’s all that’s needed. If you don’t want to be seen, just don’t stream your video.
I’ve never hosted a discord so it’s going to be rudimentary AF over there :-)
To start off, I envision pinging on those mornings I wake up early and would like to play. And if people respond, we will get a session going. But I could easily see that developing into an ongoing game with set days and times if that works well for the group.
I know it’s a weird time so I’m just seeing if there’s any interest.
Game: D&D 5e Group preferred: Online (new) / Face-to-face / either Experience: veteran 40+ yrs Location/Timezone: MST Availability: MST.- Saturday your posted time would be great! I am up early anyway.. Preferred role: Player-----DM (forever)/ sometimes I get to be a Player (PC) Game style: casual, hardcore, some roleplay, hack'n'slash, old school dungeon crawl.
I have a few yrs of experience but wouldn't count myself as a veteran.
I like story telling (by DM and players), unique approaches to character building/ backstories and mechanics/combat. Therefore I tend to favor homebrew or simple rules accommodations over RAW though it is not necessary and is not for the sake of giving the players everything they want.
Above all, I enjoy having a fun group to enjoy dnd with.
