Hi! I’m a decently new player but I would say that I know my way around by now. Since I have consumed so much dnd content and also begun playing. I’m in 2 campaigns on weekends but would love to test out some characters and have some fun in one shots. So if anyone is looking for players for online one shots, you can write to me in a comment or on discord where my username is TheDecentHuman (Astrid she/her)#9923 😊
About me: I’m 18 years old, I’m lgbtq, my pronouns are she/her, I love the storytelling aspects of dnd, but can also really appreciate a good combat session, I’m from Denmark, my name is Astrid, I always end up loving my character with my entire heart☺️
Hello! My name is Jor (she/her), I'm 28, and I'm Canadian but living in Finland.
I just finished my first ever time DMing a weekly homebrew campaign for just under 3 months and my players have asked me to run something for them again. I have a homebrew one shot in the works now and I am considering picking up another player for it since one of mine had to leave because he got too busy to commit to our weekly sessions. That leaves me with 4 players - I'm not sure if all of them will be able to join, but fingers crossed, because they're a REALLY great group and I'm so excited that they want to play again. They're a super fun, positive and LGBTQ+ friendly group who have a lot of laughs when we play, but still have moments where they get into character and have some downtime RP during watches or after battles. For the most part, we keep the game moving at a decent pace, but my favourite part of D&D is character development, so time can always be found for conversation.
Please note that this is the first one shot I have planned, so while I'm aiming for it to be roughly 4 hours in length, it may end up being shorter or even longer, requiring an additional session. Since my current players are so great, I really want to make sure the next person I pick up is a good match, so, if you're interested, I would love to chat a bit about your play style and get a sense for your demeanor before we agree to get you in. Game time will likely be on a weekday around, roughly, 9am-1pm or 10am-2pm GMT+2.
As a DM, I am fairly laid back. I mostly stick with RAI as long as you're not deliberately trying to bend something in your favour, and the Rule of Cool will always be considered. I try my best to allow players time to ask questions and figure things out for themselves before I explain everything, and I do my best to add lots of flavour to combat. I have no problems with newer players and am happy to help, as I'm still fairly new and learning myself and appreciate reciprocated leniency :) One of my players was actually playing for the first time ever! With all that being said, I believe the best stories are told when there is risk involved - if it were all easy, it wouldn't be interesting. In my games, you'll find varying levels of difficulty in combat, and some will be long, difficult, and may run the risk of losing somebody. I do not WANT, or try to, kill my players' PCs, but I ensure there is real possibility of it so players know that their actions matter and have consequence. My goal is to tell a good story, and a good story has ups and downs. You can't have triumph without challenge.
If you're interested, please send me a DM. I wasn't going to recruit until I had it all finished, but you sound like a nice person and I love when people get into their characters, even just for a one shot! If we decide to play together, I'm happy to work with you to make sure your PC fits into the world. :) Thanks for reading!
Some info on the one shot I'm building: You're in a world called Nelir - a world far older than anybody can tell, and with a rich history of wars and divisions. The most recent of these wars started over 70 years ago when a huge extraplanar cataclysm occurred, unleashing all kinds of evils throughout the central, largest and most prosperous continent of Alithel. The cataclysm, coined the Devilseve, started in the west - the residents here had little time to react, and the largest cities there were reduced to nothing. Today, this tropical and subtropical region is little more than swampland, scattered with tiny settlements - either erected or remaining standing after the war - which are mostly struggling and continually being harassed by lingering creatures to this day. You, the adventures, have met in a large city at the nearest edge of the adjacent kingdom for reasons of your own, but have decided to band together, travel to the impoverished wetlands, and help those in need by uncovering potential hidden portals and slaying unwelcome intruders. Along your travels, you find your way to a small settlement, the first in many days. Eager to sleep out of the rain with a roof over your heads, you make your way to the sole tavern in hopes of an offer of beds to sleep in - but, instead, you find yourselves offered the chance to help the people here, exactly as you were looking for.
