Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online, AboveVTT Experience: At least previous experience up to level 5. Location/Timezone: Arizona Timezone, likely to be around 6 or 7 pm, day is uncertain. Schedule: See above. Roles sought: Players - preference will be given to those willing to play as similar to my current party. Game style: Single-session, combat-heavy. This is an encounter that is supposed to be somewhere between Very Hard and Deadly, and the first time they try to attack rather than flee from this monster.
I have a homebrew campaign going. I want to design an encounter that they will fight at level 5. However, I may accidentally make this either too easy by underestimating the importance of action economy, or too hard and end up TPK'ing them. I would like to run a single-session with minimal set-up with online strangers, lay out the stage, and see how it goes. Maybe adjust and reset. If you like a heavy 5 vs 1 powerful monster, this is a showdown for you! Sidenote, I do not have content sharing, as I typically own the monster books, and my players handle content sharing. Have your own materials for your PCs.
Those willing to play closer to the classes of my current party will get first priority. 1.) Nature Cleric (comes with steel defender, optional) 2.) Twilight Cleric (optional steel defender) 3.) Rogue, Arcane Trickster 4.) Paladin of Devotion 5.) Beastmaster Ranger 6.) (Not needed, but will be on battle-field, a level 2 archery fighter)
thank you for the info. I could be on saturdays and sundays. Monday and wednesdays will be a bit tight but i think i can manage. how long is the session
Tops is going to be 3 hours, and that's if everyone plays cautious. Most likely two hours. 30 minutes of set-up and getting to know the other characters, a bit of strategy talk. Then an hour of combat and rolls, and that's assuming this is actually that difficult. Competent players unattached to their PCs could probably go straight to charging and seeing what happens.
If you end up setting the game to a Saturday or Sunday I'd be down! I'm not really fussy about anything else though, happy to play one your preferred classes and materials are no problem for me
I'd be down to play as your Twilight Cleric! I've actually been really interested in testing out that subclass - I'm researching it for my next campaign so I know the abilities well already. I'm happy to play as close to your player's cleric as possible, so if you wanted to ensure I prepare any "signature spells" they love to use, that's 100% okay with me!
I've played D&D 5e through level 5 and love combat tactics!
I'm EST timezone but like to stay up late; Saturday is my best day but I could conceivably do a weekday as well. Let me know if interested, and we can connect on Discord!
