The War of the Four Armies is probably one of the biggest D&D campaigns created so far. In this world, four realms are fighting against each other for total dominance. Each realm is composed of several parties that they can use to achieve that purpose.
Players joining the campaign will have to choose one of the realms and be part of one of the parties that form the army. If you want to participate, you can join with a group of friends ready to fight together in the different battlefields, or you can join alone and find your party (and hopefully make new friends in the process).
Dungeon Masters are also welcomed if they want to help run this world. Dungeon Masters can help running fights and write the story as it unfolds.
Due to the nature of the campaign, War of the Four Armies is combat heavy. This does not mean that a good amount of roleplay will be poured in. As a good roleplaying game, everybody can contribute to create and narrate the events that are going on in this world.
Four realms will fight against each other in order to dominate this world.
The Bastion, inhabited mainly by humans. Races like lightfoot halflings, half-elves, half-orcs and dragonborns can be found. This realm is located in plains and grassland.
The Forge is located underground in mountainous areas. It is inhabited mainly by mountain and hill dwarves. But stout halflings, rock gnomes and some dragonborns can also be found.
The Woodland is inhabited mainly by high and wood elves. Also, lightfoot halflings, forest gnomes, half-elves and some dragonborns share the land. They live in dense forests.
Finally, The Shadow. This realm is inhabited mainly by orcs. A good amount of drow can also be seen, together with some deep gnomes, half-orcs, and a few tieflings. They are relegated to live in the underdark and some corrupted lands.
Armies
Each realm will have an army composed of 6 parties and a total of 22 characters (players). All parties in the same army will not have the same amount of characters. The distribution of characters will be as follows:
One 5-players party
Two 4-players parties
Three 3-players parties
This distribution will force armies to create strategies at the moment of attacking or defending positions.
Map
For simplicity purposes, the map will be divided into a 9x9 grilled map. The map will have different terrains by realm, and some ancient places that will generate benefits for those who controlled them.
Combat
At the beginning of each round, realms have to send their parties to different squares to attack or defend. Only 1 party can be sent to a single square. When one square owned by the realm is attacked, the realm will be notified and they can choose to send a party to defend the position, or let the enemy take the square. Once all the parties are assigned to different duties, the round is played and all fighting parties should clash. Winners keep the conquered land, losers go back home to prepare for the next round.
Characters
In order to avoid players min-maxing their characters and parties, players will have to choose between three randomly generated characters. There are ways to change character as the game progresses.
Characters will be all at level 7.
