You are in a convoy of three wagons, five days into your nine-day journey from Lan Exeter to Pont Vanis. You will make it a few days before the celebration of Belleteyn, where people will line the streets and beaches and celebrate the arrival of summer.
Pont Vanis is known for its beautiful towering ivory buildings, white beaches, and glittering turquoise sea... but that's a painful contrast to what you see now. As you come down from the frozen north the hit of warm sea air causes a near permanent mist to cover this part of Kovir. The trails you've ridden have all been gnarled, boggy and partially frozen, it's an uncomfortable ride. During this journey you have often heard strange cries and howls of unknown creatures, caught glimpses of silver and gray fur streak past trees, and amber eyes watching you deep within the forest. The towns where you spend the night have been in the middle of nowhere, full of poor hard-working people just trying to survive.
This next village you're coming up to - Wetterton - is no different, it sits on the muddy banks of a slow running river. On its western side a forest made of towering fir trees push close to the grey wooden buildings, you can just see the snow tipped caps of the Kovir mountains through the tops of the trees and mist. To the east there are farmers’ fields, mainly wheat and barley, you can only see about 120 feet before the mist becomes too dense to see through. The sun is just setting, orange and blood red fill the rapidly darkening sky. You are jarred awake as your wagon slams down into a pothole, as you look over into the village, about half a mile away now, it consists of about 30 buildings, you see no one in it's streets, boarded windows on multiple buildings, there a few houses which you can see lights coming from, and most noticeably a tavern which emits a warm orange glow onto the road.
I am looking for two players to join my campaign that will be starting this January. It is set in the world of the Witcher, a few years after the end of The Witcher Stories, and one year after the end of the third games blood and wine expansion.
This campaign will be a grim/dark setting, where common people struggle to survive and choices you make are often lose/lose. I have made a homebrew Bombs/Potions/Oils crafting system (heavily based off Xgte tools improvement) which will prove key in allowing you to get the upper hand in fights against monsters.
I ask that all players can commit to all sessions, which will be ran weekly on Thursdays, 7PM GMT, starting 06/01/22, and are 18+. The game will be very RP heavy, about 70/30 RP/Combat, so I'm looking for players who are really into that and have some experience with it. Atm planned to run from level 1 to 10, across about 6 months.
Answers to FAQS - It will be ran on Discord and Roll20. As a DM I prioritise story over exact rulings, but won't break the rules constantly. I am still relatively new to DMing, about 4 months now. I ask that your characters would actively be seeking out adventure or willing to accept contracts. The game will be Gritty and Gory. Be a good team player, more in RP than combat, D&D is co-operative, party arguments and disagreements can be fun. Constantly squabbling that spills out of game is not.
For anyone who wishes to apply, please answers the questions below, and read the plot hook under that and get back to me here! If you have a friend who you think would also like to join, apply as a pair, having 2 people know each other already is great. You will be joining 3 people who I have played with before.
1 - Hey! What should we call you and what are your pronouns? I'm Jim He/Him
2 - Tell me a bit about yourself and your experience with TTRPGS and RP
3 - What sort of character would you normally be looking to play? I won't ever ask someone to play a paticular class if they don't want to.
4 - Have you ever had a bad d&d experience, particularly with a DM? If so what was it?
5 - If we disagree on a ruling, how will you deal with it? Many rules are open to interpretation in dnd, this can cause arguments, which I hope to avoid!
6 - Do you have any questions for me?
Thanks for reading, I appreciate it was a lot! I look forward to your replies.
Hey, been looking to join a game for a while, tried playing with friends but keeps falling through.
Im Sam, male (he/him) but will respond to any thing people call me
I've played 2 or 3 games of D&D with a focus on learning rather than RP, but want to experience more of what the D&D world has to offer.
Ive only played as Fighter and Barb, and wouldn't mind trying out a magic class.
Not from the DM only from other players
DMs word is law, if they allow opportunity to provide valid arguments but then over rule, thats fine.
Not a question, more of a statement, due to my job i might have to vanish for a session or 2, but i would be able to let you know if that happened well in advance.
If you would like to know anything more, feel free to message me on here.
Hi there, I'd be interested in joining the campaign that matches my timezone for once.
I'm Shane, male (he/him) but I also go by Ouro too. I'm not too fussed what people call me. I've played 5e for about 5 years now, and TTRPGs for about the same. I tend to want to round out a party, so I'm pretty flexible when it comes to characters. I've never actually had a nad d&d experience with a DM, sometimes from other players though. Disagreements at a table happen, but ultimately, it's the dm's decision.
As for questions, I don't really have any. I guess the only question is if players need an extensive Witcher knowledge or not, but that's about it.
If you have anything else you'd like to know, I'm usually available on here or on Discord at Ouroboros#3090. I look forward to hearing from you in the future ^^
Hi I have been looking for a group to play DnD, I even try with some friends, Face-to-Face, but they were not interested with long committed games (I was Dming). so I still want to play.
1- I am Hernan but people called me Nan, male (he/him).
2- At high school I played couple of times with friends the 4th edition (15 years ago) , then recently I tried to run a campaign with my friends Face-to-Face as DM, but they want something quick and not a long campaign. And finally I constantly followed and watch Critical Role (in a weekly basis).
3- I would like to place a divine soul sorcerer, but I am open to play any character.
4- Not really, besides being a DM with dreams of a campaign and friends seeking something fast and casual.
5- As the books stayed is up to the DM, if there is a rule open to interpretation the DM have the last word.
6- How much Witcher knowledge is required? to be honest my knowledge goes as far as the Netflix shows and I bet that is not much of a lore keeper for the Witcher.
my discord in case you need it Nan#4323 and my time zone is CET
2) Couple of one-shots and a few homebrews that never went beyond a third session.
3) I want to a half elf ranger beast master.
4) Not particularly with the dm but a player who for some reason had it out for my character it was super uncomfortable and the dm wouldn't do anything about it so I left.
5) I'll just go with the flow dm has final say.
6) I'm super into crafting so I'd want to know how I'd go about it in your game.
