Greetings new adventurers! Lost Mine of Phandelver is an excellent introduction for anyone wanting to learn how to play Dungeons and Dragons 5e but it’s also just a great adventure for folks looking to enjoy a tier 1 (player characters level 1-5) campaign! Sign up here:
Learn the basics of player character creation, the mechanics of combat, how the dice are used to determine outcomes, and more as we unpack the Starter Set and dip our toes into the magic and majesty of the Forgotten Realms.
How to prepare
Please be prepared to be on camera and to use audio through the computer. Players may need to download Zoom client on to their laptop or device. Players should have their own set of dice, a notebook, pencil, and player sheet. I like my online games to be as close to playing around a physical tabletop as possible. If players have already purchased Lost Mine of Phandelver then they should start by NOT reading the adventure! They should however have a copy of the rule book that also comes in the set, handy. Players won’t need to reference the rules, but it’s sometimes fun to point out how things work in the game in the interest of learning.
What I provide
I have all D&D 5th edition rulebooks. I will have basic maps and graphics that I will be referring to in PowerPoint slides that will help give the players an idea of where things are and how far they've traveled. I may use Whiteboard to sketch basic combat parameters such as monster locations, player locations, obstacles, etc. I often play ambient music in the background.
Gameplay details
This campaign takes place in a high fantasy setting with monsters. It will have descriptions of violence which may occasionally be graphic. In town settings there may be descriptions of alcohol consumption.

How will character creation work
Lost Mine of Phandelver ships with pre-made level 1 characters. Players are welcome to start with one of those characters which I will provide via email, or if they are feeling adventurous, they can make their own level 1 character and bring it to the first session (session 0). Either way, we will use a part of the session 0 to go over player sheets, check stats, etc. so that everyone is fairly comfortable reading their player sheets.
Players can expect
Combat/Tactics: Medium
Roleplay: High
Puzzles: Low
Experience Level: None
