Group type: Online via Zoom and Roll20 in game, Discord for organizing outside of the session. Experience: I've DM'd for a year and a half. Location/Timezone: EST Schedule: Weekly on Saturday nights from 6pm-10pm with a short break around the halfway point. Roles sought: 1 reliable and experienced player who is in it for the long haul, preferably 18+. Game style: Semi-hardcore, a lot of combat but also a good amount of roleplaying and exploration.
One thing unique about my DM style is that I welcome "rule lawyers," so long as they keep it respectful, back it up with page number references to the sourcebooks, but also let me ultimately decide whether I want to follow that rule or not. Sometimes for the sake of the general flow of the game, I go with what feels right, as I think most would agree is ideal. By doing this I'm becoming better acquainted with the official rules while also refining my personal approach to DM'ing. For this reason, I would also prefer experienced players who have at least read the PHB (player's handbook) and have played for at least a few months. Also, if you could keep suggestions/criticisms to myself, the DM, and not other players, that would also be appreciated. :)
As for creating characters, please keep it to the PHB and XGtE. Everyone is currently at level 4, so you'll start there. Party composition is currently berserker barbarian, grave domain cleric, enchantment wizard, swashbuckler rogue, and way of the four elements monk.
If you've read this far, thank you - I'd love to hear from you :) This campaign might wrap up in as little as two or three sessions, at which point we'll take a break (one of the players intends to act as DM for awhile while I take a break.) And after his campaign we might continue on this campaign and turn it into Waterdeep: Mad Mage and pick up where we left off.
One last note - but this is kind of a given in any dnd game really, but the number one rule in all sessions is respect each other. Pretty simple. Any form of hatred, be it racism/sexism/homophobia/ableism/transphobia, etc, will not be tolerated. Also, no politics or religion please. We're all just here to play dnd and have fun. :)
Are you still looking for players. I'd be interested in joining and I'm also interested in Mad Mage. Saturday night works great for me. I've played DnD for many years but mostly in-person before the pandemic. I recently started playing online. I work well with other and I'm pretty good at problem solving. Looking forward to hear from you.
