Hello,
name: Ray Age: 29 Country: The Netherlands
I'm a passionate Dungeons and Dragons player(DM) and have been exactly for 2 years now, as soon as some of my friends introduced me to Critical role i got hooked and never let go (like a pitbull). That led to our last campaign...wich sadly came to an abrubt ending due people not able or willing to put anymore time in to our sessions.
I've been playing games for a long time now, ranging from single-player adventure games over co-op first-person and much more. This was a small introduction about myself :) if you wish to know more about me feel free to leave a post :)
Just as a example here is a backstory that i wrote for a character,
Dante Richwoods , was born in to a poor family. He is the second oldest child among his two siblings, Henston and Guila. Dante, as the family was poor, never had time to play as a child. He and his two siblings spent most of their day assisting his fathers smithy. Dantes "household" doubled as a weapons storage/smithy, so Dantes and his siblings childhood was mostly revolved around weapons and armor. Thankfully, Dantes father was literate and seemingly well educated, so even though Dante and his siblings never went to school, they were decently well educated, but due to the fathers workaholism, Dante never really had a father figure in his life. Thus, his mother was the dominant parent that shaped his childhood. The mother was a kind, but stern High half elf female, but also harse about how humans are never to be trusted. At the age of 16, Dante was returning from the hunt. However, it was late, and during the night, Dante was attacked by thugs. Beaten and laying on the ground, Dante was almost robbed when suddenly, a town guard by the name of Shin arrived and fended off the thugs. Dante, inspired by Shins heroism, decided that instead of being a weaponsmith, he would instead become a town guard. He relayed this information to his parents; his father was displeased; he intended to give the business to Dante, as Dante seemed the best choice to manage the weapon smithing, but his mother encouraged him to follow his heart. Dantes neutral relationship with his father turned sour after that, with his father verbally abusing him and demanding he stayed in the business. Dante repeatedly said no. Even though his mother supported him, Dante couldn't be in this toxic relationship anymore. At the age of 17, he left the warmth of his eldrly home and, with his meager life savings, went and got training from a weapons master and became a towns guard; he even got a recommendation from Shin, surprising Dante. Dante visited his parents "house" only seldomly for the years that his parents were alive. Dante wished to not visit his father, but also felt love for the rest of his family. His father didn't take too kindly to his visits, and never tried to talk to Dante. Dante did have a healthy relationship with his mother and siblings. Dante his years as a town guard recruit, Shin was Dantes teacher in a lot of ways. They were always together during shifts. They formed a close bond with eachother for the 5 years that Shin was a regular townsguard. Shin, after the previous captains demise in a bandit excursion, became captain of the guard. Shin was a skilled combatant and an excellent strategist, so thus he got the position easily. Dante harbored no resentment as Shin was the better fighter out of the two of them. It was during this time that Dante met his wife, Diela. Love at first sight. They both got married, and both spent money for a plot of land and a house. Dante had 2 children, a boy and girl, whom he raised with his wife. 20 years later, his kids have moved out. Diela became ill, suddenly. There were no healers in town or nearby, and so she passed away. After a few weeks of leave from his job to mourn, Shin offered Dante to be second in command of the townsguard. Dante accepted, and soon began working with Shin closely again, just as he used to 20 years prior. Shin changed during the few weeks of Dante isolation. Shin became ever more stronger, his fighting skills and mind sharper than ever. But that's not all that's changed. He became cruel, overtaxing and jailing citizens for petty things. Shin also was unjustly severe in his punishings; anyone who stole a piece of bread had their hands cut off and beaten; any person even accused of crimes were put in jail for months on end, starved and tortured. A few short days of this later, Dante had enough and confronted Shin. Shin was surprised and apparently assumed that Dante would go along with his tyranny. Dante, after attempting to talk it out with Shin, stated that he was leaving with disgust. That put Shin to a rage. Shin immediately stripped Dante of his rank, dishonorably discharged him, and through some dark contacts, slandered Dantes reputation and forced him out of the town, taking his property from Dante and got him exilled from Crimmor. Dante, having been screwed out of any sort of pension from his 20 years of service, had to become a ranger/hunter to make ends meet. Dante vowed to return to the town when he was more powerful, take down Shin and save the people from Shins tyranny.
Tidbits: Dante is Chaotic, he is 45 years old,
Dante also sailed the waters of fearun for a couple of years.
(my apologies for the bad grammar, i hope it was all easy to read)
