To those wishing to apply, please read through this post completely.
GAME TIME WILL BE 6PM - 10PM EST ON WEDNESDAYS EVERY WEEK
We are looking for 1-2 individuals (18+) for a 5E weekly low to mid-magic campaign that contains some homebrew elements and emphasizes roleplay, exploration and combat(50/25/25 split)! You will journey to Tor, the City of Guilds in this campaign and experience many things both familiar and new for veteran D&D players! This is NOT a particularly new player friendly campaign as there will be few punches pulled so please keep that in mind when applying!
The party will be composed of three individuals, with one spot having already been filled by a Bard! PVP will be allowed in the game if there is a legitimate reason behind it and both players consent.
Signing up for this campaign is a long-term commitment so please only reply if that’s something you’re willing to stick with! Together we will talk about your characters during Session Zero and help craft a meaningful start to the campaign! The DM of the party asked me to post this for him so I will not be the one you will be communicating with. The DM will go over the premise of the game, but when you send your message to the DM, please fill out the following questions about your character in a DM via Discord(excessbloodlust#8856)! The DM will be accepting friend requests and asking for information over the coming days so do not be discouraged if you don’t get an immediate reply.
Information to give to the DM
Since the game is a mid to low magic setting, the following races haven’t been encountered yet and the DM has asked the race you choose for your character not be homebrewed, or one of the following: Loxodon, Tortle, Tabaxi, Leonin, Satyr, Fairy, Harengon, Owlin, Aarakocra, Kenku, Kobold, Warforged, Centaur or Minotaur.
This is purely to fit the setting, and not because of any particular dislike for any of the above races!
We ask that everyone who wishes to apply to have the following things:
A decent computer for the following reasons; We will be using D&D-Beyond for character sheets, Roll20 for our virtual tabletop, and a Chrome/Firefox plugin called Beyond20 to allow the two to communicate! It makes the process of playing virtually much easier and is very easy to learn!
A decent internet connection; We will be using Discord as our primary means of communication for the game. Since communication is key, a microphone is also required so that you can clearly speak with the rest of the group and the DM! I’m not asking you to be a professional voice actor, just to be able to respond to questions and let the RP flow!
Lastly, you’ll need to take notes of your journey! Luckily your character sheet on D&D-Beyond allows for you to easily track all the information you’ll need, from spell components to important NPC’s that you’ve run into. Obviously you’re encouraged to take your own physical notes if you prefer but being able to remember and easily recall NPC’s, locations, and other vital information will be very helpful!
DM’s Deal Breakers!
No bullying of any KIND! That includes racism, hate speech, degrading another player's choice because you disagree with them, and any kind of personal attack. If you do bully another player you will get ONE warning, and any further instances of bullying will result in you immediately being removed from the group. A small caveat to this; if the attack/comment/behavior is so egregious I reserve the right to simply remove you from the group. Please respect the differences of everyone in the group and their choices as players.
NO discussion of real-world politics of any kind, religions, or other topics that are considered divisive. We’re here to make friends and enjoy playing D&D together, leave your opinions at the door and don’t bring them to the table.
NO murder hobos allowed! I’m looking for players who want to fully immerse themselves into the world of Tor and enjoy D&D in all its aspects. While killing an npc is not strictly forbidden, as I allow freedom within my games within reason, blatantly murdering an npc for no reason other than ‘you can’ is not going to be tolerated. (Evil characters can be fun, but please discuss it with me prior to creation as the level of villainy you want to RP may not fit into my setting.)
NO “But that’s what my character would do!” That is quite simply a cop out. Your character's behaviors will be justifiable according to your character's backstory, previous actions and consistent progression, or alternative reasoning (spoken about with me) As realistic reasoning will be a must in this game.
NO interrupting the DM, or each other. Whether the DM is introducing a scene, narrating moments or answering a question once he is finished, he will conclude with, “what do you do/say” or something similar. Please refrain from interruptions unless it is of vital importance. The same goes for players! Please do not talk over each other talk with each other! Be patient and take turns speaking, especially for those new to roleplay it will feel a bit strange at first. Don’t be afraid to get involved in a conversation but learn to ‘read the room’ and try to find the natural pauses in the conversation to jump in!
Do not arrive late without letting the DM know ahead of time and please do not miss sessions without letting him know the reason. Understandably life happens, but please message him so that he can plan the session for the other remaining players. It’s a matter of simple courtesy, both for my sake and the sake of your fellow party members! If you continue to arrive late, miss games or cancel you will be removed from the campaign.
Final Words
Tor is a wondrous and chaotic city, and wherever you tread danger and opportunity lurk. If you tire of the city the surrounding wilds are home to mysterious peoples, ancient ruins and long forgotten mysteries. I look forward to the world unraveling around you as we walk this narrative road together, whatever our fates may be in the gilded city of Tor.

That would be 10pm to 2am for me, which is honestly not bad for me.
I have sent the DM a Friend's request, but I will making a post next about my character idea and alittle about myself too as requested if you still are looking for another player.
I'm interested but a little leery of the 18+. I would prefer to start at the beginning and upgrade my character according to the DM and story (DM is supreme ruler) I'm surprised to see so many restrictions on hate speech, as I assumed any of that would be reported and banned. Politics and religion are banned at the dinner table, for probably centuries! Anyway I'm a high elf (because I couldn't get dark elf) ranger, specialty underdark, lawful/good, and I can send her to you and upgrade her to 18. I haven't played in about 25 years, my fav was gary gygax, sad to learn that he passed away, and the ARTWORK, I have a whole book on the art and it's sooo great, and I used to DM a mix between ad&d 1and 2. I do prefer longer sessions so you can get into it. It would be nice to know a little more about the scene whilst I modify my character to level 18, that's a lot of choices to make. This would be my first time online and I need more info on how to connect. I'm camera shy and have tape over my camera but my mic works. I have zoom, but I haven't seen it mentioned here. I run on with my fingers, but I can contain myself in verbal conversation, especially in this context. Either way peace, love, respect, and have fun with or without me. Again this is new to me, the first ad I've ever clicked on and liked, so any advice will be appreciated. I'm still having trouble figuring out this website. Oh and if you care i'm a month away from 42.
